Watched the results come in on NYC1, listened to the victory speeches, texted with friends, here in SF, CA. What a night. What a (blazing) light for ALL of US. I understand but I like inspired, I'm so tired of Terror, Fear and all of its children. I welcome the flood of light, and actions guided by this - and I do mean ACTION. Grateful to be living in this moment. Qasim, BTW loved the Menstrual Justice pod a few days ago, it was such balm to the heart!🩷

Mamdani has the energy and the blueprint to take back our country and so many of us are here for it. We have watched white fragility literally destroy everything using our tax dollars and never considering the consequences we have to live with. Along come Mamdani with common sense approach to exceptional greed and quite frankly, it's refreshingly honest.

I'd like to add someone to your list. Julie Gonzales is running for U.S. Senate from Colorado. Her opponent, John Hickenlooper, has done many good things for CO. However, he accepts an obscene amount of money from AIPAC and is all in for continuing money and arms to Israel. NO MORE GENOCIDE! Instead, our next US Senator should be Julie Gonzales.

We are watching the race with Melat Kiros too!

My problem with this arm of the democratic party is they are excluding a lot of people. I love some of their ideas, and I've been a democrat my whole life. I believe in equal rights for all, women's rights, access to abortion, voting rights, etc. I feel that this far left arm is too close to the far right MAGAs. We need to tone it down a bit. The hate is too strong. I'm tired of the hate from the MAGAs, I don't want it from my own party. And you won't get the votes from the moderates or the Republicans that don't like the MAGAs. You discussed Mamdami reducing antisemitism, that hasn't been working. Antisemitism is worse than ever, coming from the left. I refuse to vote for a republican, but I certainly can't vote for someone that is blatantly antisemitic. I have a lot of Jewish friends that are saying they will hesitantly vote republican because of it. There are many American Jews that don't like what Netanyahu is doing, so please stop hating on all Jews. Just like a lot of Americans don't like what our president is doing.

I am a little saddened that you talk about the nontraditional candidates as progressives as a shield for naming at least the NY candidates as Democratic Socialists of America. This is the story of a movement not a story of a man. Because as Eugene Debbs said, “If I lead you in [to the promised land], someone else would lead you out. You must use your heads as well as your hands, and get yourselves out of your present condition; as it is now Capitalists use your heads and your hands.” By calling Mamdani a King maker you are cultivating passivity. In other words, the power of working class people will make the difference. The NYDSA has worked for years on this project by reaching out to working people who aspire to a life worth living. Please check out what is happening in the Illinois Fourth Congressional District. The Democratic Party is squelching voter choice.

I decided to contribute to Dr. El-Sayed's campaign - note that his contributions are weekly, not monthly.

I think it's very interesting that many of these people-funded pprogressives have "funny names" - like Barack Obama and Zohran Mamdani do - and are immigrants and/or Black. If they keep winning, that's going to drive Stephen Miller and his like-minded buddies nuts.

I love that for Miller :D

Mamdani is not like Obama.

I didn't mean to say that the two men were alike (though they did come together to read to a kindergarten class and both looked adorable.) I meant that their names are "funny sounding" - not what people like Stephen Miller consider traditional American names. Actually, truly American names are "Sacajaweah," "Tecumseh," and "Geronimo."

Fantastic victories in NYC! It shows the utility of collective action; note that the three winning candidates often were together, and saw themselves as part of a movement. I'm a bit surprised that you did not mention DSA or--JVP and IfNotNow that both worked assiduously in this election. I am looking much forward to voting for a fantastic candidate in MI...I mean, of course, Dr. Abdul El-Sayed; both my wife and I have contributed to his campaign.

I mentioned WFP but you're right there are a number of orgs that were/are part of this coalition. Didn't mean to slight them.

And thank you for contributing!

I believe the WFP supported Reynoso against Claire Valdez.

Fantastic, informative read, as usual! There are no words for how much I'm enjoying this moment. I've been making enemies of Democratic voters (including friends) because I have been telling people for years that the establishment MUST be removed from leadership roles in the party if the party is to survive. My true disdain for the establishment solidified in earnest after the '16 election cycle. They decided Hillary was the chosen one, even though she couldn't be bothered to run an actual campaign. She didn't even visit all the swing states because she's so arrogant that she was certain she had it in the bag. I blame her and the entire establishment for the nightmare we are still living, as much as I do the people who voted for him.

I vote blue at least 50% of the time out of necessity, not because I agree with or even like the candidate. This is genuinely exciting!

This is excellent news. I'm not an American and live in England but I've followed your politics for years. Actually ever since trump got into office in 2016. It astounded the world that it was allowed to happen. I'm glad during his second term his outright stealing from the American taxpayer has become front and centre. He can bluster and lie until the cows come home but he will never get his way so easily again. As you are getting more progressive democrats endorsed by Mamdani it's clear that the people are seeing that it's not just the republicans that are liars and cheats but also the establishment dems. They need to be replaced. I'm hopeful that you can also straighten out your extremely biased SCOTUS. The country needs the laws to apply to all.

Thank you. Grateful for your support.

Rock on! Beautifully said!! How exciting and hopeful to see these types of results!!! Trump and his cronies are the catalyst for meaningful, positive change that brings us back to the vision that our Founding Fathers had for this country, "[We the People], one nation, indivisible with Liberty and Justice for All."
