Sounds good. It's encouraging to see a company like this enter the marketplace. My monthly bill with Ting, however, is less than $30/month so Noble wouldn't save me any money. Not sure about Ting's policies re data sharing. I will look into it and if they don't measure up to Noble, I'll switch immediately.

My problem with changing cell carriers is the fact that all towers/networks are owned by T-Moble (who Noble Mobile rents bandwidth from), AT&T or Verizon. So, consumers subscribed to any "alternative carriers" are still paying the big three. This is another example of vertical integration (like AOC's recent yt about CVS) eliminating consumer choice. When you pay through an alternate carrier, you're also deprioritized for usage access so your calls, texts and emails are even more delayed than what you can sometimes experience with paying directly to Verizon, AT&T or T-Moblile. If you need to make emergency calls, this is something else to consider.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of being able to get free of this kind of consumer exploitation/manipulation but the market makes it difficult to impossible. Corporations have arranged a lot of gluttonous comfort for their operators over the last 60 years or so.

I'm in complete agreement to switch to those sources not manipulated by the corporations undermining our democracy.

I would also point out about Substack and its relationship with the far-right. Please see the link:

I would also remind those who seek to "spread the news" not to use Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. as these are owned by billionaires undermining our humanity. I suggest Fediverse sources to use instead.

I'm not high tech, but there are ways to directly impact those who have "power." And, we have the power to challenge them!

How does it compare with Credo (socially conscious phone companyI) besides being cheaper?

Also, what network does it run on? I am concerned about coverage where I live.

For the past several weeks I am unable to access Substack Reader online as I have always done in the past. The Support feature for Substack has not resolved this problem per my many requests. Can you use your influence to implore Substack to fix this issue?

Much appreciated, LOK

Please help. Your site is trying to charge me for a subscription I don’t have and cannot manage because I don’t have any paid subscriptions. Received emails of “Your payment for Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid was unsuccessful”. Need to remove my payment information as well. Sorry about this long post but Substack support is not working

This is nothing to do with this post. I was recently charged for a new subscription, which is fine. I would like to see the time period for how long the subscription is. I can't find my account history.

Please, be so kind to tell me where it is. Thank you.

Sure. Please email me so I can look up the account. It should’ve given you a week notice before renewing. Happy to return the funds without delay. Don’t want to be a burden for any reason.

I am curious if you found a similar morally aligned internet company. Have you?

Hala's avatar

Isn’t Noble Mobil part of T-Mobil? I read T-Mobil has partnered with Musk’s satellite company.

Hala's avatar

I haven’t looked into it yet but I am interested and looking to learn on reducing reliance on the big carriers who are surveilling or have backdoors for others to do so.

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

Not yet but always open to possibilities.

Keep going Qasim.

I pay $180/year with Mint Mobile, also uses T-Mobile network but is separate company.

I’m curious how this works, as they’re powered by T-Mobile. How do they maintain client privacy under those circumstances? And isn’t T-Mobile an enormous supporter of the sitting president? I certainly understand that no independent carrier could function on its own without the cell towers of larger providers, but some clarity and transparency on this partnership would be great!

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

Great question. I asked this same question. They essentially rent t mobile towers but there’s zero data sharing or information access. They function as the entirely separate entity they are.

Mary Carman's avatar

Is there a reason why they opted for T-Mobile over other carriers? (This is a good faith curiosity question.)

Elsbeth Picard, MS Ed, MPH's avatar

I'm curious too, since T-Mobile has partnered with Starling

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

I think it actually is demonstrably the best network.

Mary Carman's avatar

Appreciate the information. I’ll look into this further!

Qasim, thank you for this. As SeekingReason points, Credo Mobile has a very similar ethic, but they're significantly more expensive than other carriers.

Since you take the time and trouble to reassure that Noble Mobile is likely cheaper than other carriers, you might consider that it wouldn't matter if it was the same price, or even a little more. We should all be willing to pay for a decent and ethical approach. There is no way on earth I would buy anything from (Sc)Amazon, even if they're cheaper.

So thanks again, and it sounds like the right switch to make.

Credo Mobile is another fully Left wing supporter company. Their reliability=very good. It’s nice to FINALLY have options.

I use Credo. I’ve been with them for about 15 years I think.

Shirley Figueroa's avatar

It sounds very good. I’ll inform my son as I’m a senior and on his family plan.

Kelso's avatar

I'm interested. Definitely checking into this.

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

Great to hear.

Gary Kleppe's avatar

I'm assuming the $50 maximum is for one phone, and for my family with three it would be three times that?

Fred Jonas's avatar

As Shirkey Figueroa says, and Qasim suspects, I don't know of any carriers that don't have a significantly discounted family plan.

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

Yes I believe so. Though rumor has it they'll have some kind of a family plan later this year.
