Good for you! I have been to a few protests where I live, and just to the East of our protest was a Cult of the Fapweasel (Trump) protest. As with yours, the numbers were smaller. They would make nasty gestures. Our protests got honks and thumbs up. They have stopped gathering, and the guy who used to sell crummy flags and banners is gone. The flags and banners were cheap and faded soon after people hung them out.
I have Democrats and progressives stickers taped to the inside of my car windows. I would get the finger sometimes, but I feel the stickers insulated me from their right wing insults. Like their leader, their insults were pretty pathetic.

Well his memory is pretty bad. However, he did go to Penn. well, he was enrolled there. He didn’t attend classes. His diplomas were bought and paid for.
I visited a Philly, and it was very nice. My mom and I went to the museum there for the King Tut exhibit. It was really nice. We had a lovely time. The Fapweasel (Trump) wouldn’t have appreciated it.

I was told by a friend yesterday that Marie Newman, former Congressional Rep from my district (before boundaries were redrawn after last Census) was recently hit with pepper balls (or was in close range) shot at protesters in Broadview. This inhumane and cruel situation is beyond the pale.
ICE out here pepper-balling peaceful protestors like they’re in a Fortnite match, and still calling it “law enforcement.” That’s not protecting the public. That’s cosplay fascism with tear gas.

Hey from "War-raveged Portland" Oregon where we're gonna get storm troopered next, sigh. (He literally just decleared war on my city.) We've had a handful of small (SMALL) skirmishes outside of our ICE facility too, which is now boarded up, but... they were always started by ICE! The protestors were always peaceful, but ICE agents took umbrage and made it violent. THEY use tear gas. We don't. So. Yeah, it's gonna get interesting. I had a great day yarn-shopping in southeast Portland yesterday personally. The only thing I was subjected to was beautiful public art on peaceful streets.
In Northern NJ we're showing up at Delaney Hall every weekend (and some week days too) to support family members of detainees and to protest. If anyone is in NJ and wants to get involved let me know and I can connect you to the volunteer organizations making it happen.

Kat Abughazaleh, a progressive social media influencer whose campaign for the 9th congressional district of Illinois I am volunteering for, was assaulted twice over the past month by ICE p_____.
ICE is a menace to society that should be officially designated as a terrorist organization by the United States government, permanently abolished, and supplanted by a federal law enforcement agency that enforces our nation’s immigration laws lawfully and humanely.
Many ICE “agents,” from my understanding, are military bootcamp washouts and wannabe law enforcement officers who could not make it past the hiring screenings for positions in real law enforcement agencies.
They are essentially clowns with flamethrowers who have a real life domination fetish.
My daughter is a Chicago teacher so this adds additional concern about ICE. I’m in Oregon and now Trump wants to target Portland. My son is a guardsman and is starting to self separate from family because of perceive public aversion to them. This regime is all too happy to tear families apart on both sides of the division. Violent and sickening. Thank you for being out there in the middle of it and adding your voice.
Elsewhere on the internet today, a reporter engaged with some would-be ICE agents lining up for hiring interviews, The reporter asked the people lined up (all male) why they were trying to get a job with ICE, The responses ran the gamut from pragmatic, I need a job, to the "patriotic" "time to get rid of all these fu**ing aliens" to the befuddled and confused.. He got around to mentioning all the violent videos available and asked how they would handle these encounters?, denial, deflection, disbelief, "that won't happen to me, I'm going for an inside job." Humpf. Clearly a very narrow view of what they are lining up for. I wonder how long they will last without losing their humanity - if they have any to start with. How many more PTSD cases will be added to the mental illness plague bedeviling our crumbling social fabric? How many more damaged wife beaters will emerge, how many drug addicts, alcoholics, basically non functional men?
Solidarity! I recall a protest march prior to the completely unnecessary Iraq War. At the corner of Western Ave and Devon in Chicago, the march was made up of all kinds of people, so impressively coming together to say NO! I took photos and it is a big regret of mine that I lost them in the time since.
Thank you for your action and your reporting on what happened. This employment by the government of masked unidentified men who are immune to challenge and are backed up by police is an outrage. It is in the tradition of the KKK, with government support, trampling on the Constitution with no consequences.
