What Is In The "Big Beautiful Bill"
Share these images with your conservative friends to help them understand why this Trump bill is not beautiful, but belligerent, bombastic, and brutal
Not long after H.R. 1 passed the House, Republicans themselves admitted they hadn’t read the bill. They didn’t realize it banned AI regulation for a decade, or that it increased the deficit by $5 Trillion, or that it gutted Medicaid for 16 million people. The problem is, most Americans still have no idea what is in this bill. So, in writing about it, I was fortunate to connect with activist and designer
, who has graciously put into a visual display the carnage that H.R. 1 will cause if it becomes law. With that, let us show you why, regardless of your politics, you should oppose H.R. 1 from becoming law. Let’s Address This.National Debt
Remember how Republicans pretend to care about the National Debt whenever a Democrat is in the White House? Now that Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House, they’re adding up to $5 Trillion to the National Debt.
Healthcare Access
These next three visuals demonstrate how horrific an impact H.R. 1 will have on basic healthcare access for tens of millions of Americans. In addition to stripping healthcare from up to 16 million people, H.R. 1 will close hospitals in the most rural parts of our nation. Thus the cruel irony of this piece of legislation—it will hurt Republican voters more than any other demographic. MAGAs just voted against their own healthcare access, and they will suffer the most as a result. By working to block this bill, Democratic Senators and Democratic voters are ultimately helping Republican voters more than anyone else.
A New Tax Scam
The Trump 2017 Tax Scam was one of the biggest transfers of wealth from working class to the wealthy. In fact, it built upon the now nearly half century long Reaganomics tricle down scam started in the 1980s. A recent study by Rand found that these tax cuts for the super wealthy have resulted in a transfer of $79 TRILLION in wealth from the bottom 90% to the top 1%.
And now, H.R. 1 wants to give billionaires even more money, and make working people suffer even more than we already are. The below graphic shows who gets tax cuts, and who pays more. Those making over $4.3 million a year get a $389K tax cut, while those making under $51,000 a year get a tax hike. This is class warfare, and Republicans are working for billionaires.
The United Police States of America
Next, H.R. 1 further transforms the United States into a police state—and that’s not an understatement. These next four images show that picture. It is truly mortifying how, while cutting access to healthcare and food, MAGAs want to build a vanity wall that will nothing to actually address immigration, increase ICE funding to round up Americans, increase prisons to grow the private enslavement industry, and increase the already bloated military budget to continue to wage war. Like Tupac said, “They got money for war but can’t feed the poor.”
First, $8 billion for 10,000 new ICE fascist agents, with the plan to round up 3,000 Americans per day. A recent study by the CATO institute found that of the 204,000 people ICE has arrested and detained in just the last year, 65% had no criminal record, and 93% had no violent record. Trump claims he’s targeting violent immigrants, but more than 93% of the people he is targeting have no violent record whatsoever. Adding $8 billion to his fascist initiative will further destroy our civil rights.
Rounding up 3,000 people a day will require concentrating them into camps—concentration camps, if you will. Therefore, H.R. 1 adds $59 billion to build more prisons for people caught by masked ICE fascists. This isn’t freedom, it’s fascism.
And of course, why invest in a humane immigration policy when we can just burn $50 billion on building a vanity wall that will solve absolutely nothing? A reminder that this is a white supremacist policy. There are conservatively more than 600,000 undocumented Canadian and European mostly white immigrants in America. When was the last time Trump proposed building a northern wall or having ICE raid white majority neighborhoods? Never.
Finally, in addition to becoming a domestic police state, Trump wants the United States to become the world police, even more so than it already is. Another $150 billion to an already bloated military budget is money that will go to defense contractors to build more weapons of war. Those weapons of war will be used to fund genocide in Palestine, bomb Yemen and Syria, and fund the global arms trade. None of this makes us safer. All of it makes the world a less peaceful place.
Who Do We Call To Stop H.R. 1?
Below are the Republican Senators who have indicated the possibility of voting NO on H.R. 1. We only need 4 of them to flip and vote no on this absurd piece of legislation. Below, after this graphic is a sample script to use when you call them.
CALL SCRIPT:
IF CALLING:
Hi, my name is [NAME], and I’m a voter from [CITY]. I’m calling with urgency to demand that [Senator NAME] vote NO on H.R. 1, the budget reconciliation bill.
This bill is dangerous. It guts vital programs our families and communities rely on—programs that fund healthcare, education, food assistance, and our civil rights. Stripping these resources is not fiscal responsibility—it’s cruelty.
A vote for H.R. 1 is a vote against working families. Against children. Against seniors. Against your own constituents. And I promise you—we’re paying attention, and we won’t forget.
Vote NO on H.R. 1. Protect your people. Thank you.
IF LEAVING A VOICEMAIL:
My name is [FULL NAME]. I’m a voter, and I’m urging Senator [NAME] to vote NO on H.R. 1. This bill harms working people. This is a critical vote—and I will remember it.
Conclusion
H.R. 1 isn’t just another bill—it’s a blueprint for authoritarianism wrapped in corporate greed. It is an assault on working people, on civil rights, on our healthcare, our democracy, and our shared humanity. It punishes the vulnerable and rewards the wealthy. It rips food from hungry families while handing billionaires another tax break. It guts healthcare for 16 million Americans while funneling billions into ICE raids, private prisons, and endless war. It isn’t policy—it’s cruelty made law.
But as of this article, this fight isn’t over. In fact, it can still be won.
We only need four Republican Senators to stand up for the people. Just four to stop this catastrophic legislation from becoming law. And we know public pressure works. Your voice matters. Your calls matter. Your courage matters.

An awesome visual summary. Perhaps some of the Congress members who admitted to not reading the bill properly, should read this.
