Thanks for the Ranked Choice voting info. We certainly could use it at the federal level given its tendency to form governing bodies that are more likely to work together for democratic purposes

Is there a text of this petition? I saw a description of “the issue.” Is that what we’re being asked to sign?

Yes of course, when you click on the link and scroll down you see a full thorough text of the petition. https://bit.ly/4nEUKjT

Sorry, I still can’t find it. The only full text I see is headed “The Issue.” If I scroll down, I see a lot of signer comments. If I keep scrolling I come to a QR code inviting me to share the petition and then a lot of other petitions.

You don’t see this?

Yes, that is what I see. What has confused me is the headline “The Issue.” The text asks me to sign a petition, but apparently all that is being requested is US recognition of a Palestinian state. I am for that with both hands, although everything depends on what Palestinian state. At UCLA I have been the public voice for those promoting a one-state solution, a state that all Palestinians, Jewish or not, inhabit on equal terms. But even that requires careful consideration of what “equality” would mean in practice. Even if we can rid ourselves of Trump and his ilk, it will be very far from establishing equality among Americans. What equality would look like in Palestine, I can hardly imagine. I ask forgiveness for stating what I know to be obvious to you.

Thank you for answering my questions.

Thanks. Scrolling down is always my problem.

I don’t think Netanyahu ever intended to make peace with the Palestinians. It is not possible to have a state larger than the

Vatican composed of one belief system and still have a democracy.

Nope, he did not. He is a war criminal and he has no intention of peace. He needs to be held accountable by the ICC.

I have to say, your video with the, I think, little Slate Junko was very special. But not surprisingly so. Beautiful.

You can’t tell hungry people to protest peacefully.

Commentators who focus on “will or won’t we have elections” and “third term questions” - are missing the mark needed.

This administration has shown its complete disregard for the law as well as complete disregard for the value of life itself. They will use any opportunity to seize complete control.

The government shut down that threatens the snap benefits, and the hunger of the people that it will cause, creates the perfect situation for the hungry people to take ever more drastic action.

You can’t tell hungry people to protest peacefully.

This type of uncontrollable protest is of course, exactly what administration is seeking . It gives them reason to vigorously and brutally deploy the military against the public.

The administration doesn’t care if people go hungry and they don’t care how many people they will kill in the process of quelling, the disturbance that they have deliberately created.

Exactly. They are trying to ignite violence. This is part of their cruel ploy.
