I'm in VA-05 (Charlottesville, a blue dot surrounded by red, with maybe a bit more blue, or less red, than before.)
Our D primary is going to be easy IMO, and the general is going to be a steep climb. We have a 100% Trumper, but I have to believe that the red-rural folks are already suffering.
You wouldn't think of coming back to VA, would you?
I was going to correct my comment but can’t find it. I am an angry Virginian about Spanberger and hadn’t read the article. Not in 1st and pretty happy with Suhas. Proud he showed up for the survivors and seems to have a smart team behind him. Took some AIPAC $ and will keep an eye out.
I wonder how Virginians feel about their vote for Spanberger now. Elevating an old white woman again as a safe reliable choice is so transparent, and will most likely get her elected. People don't actually seem to care about the issues when they clearly vote for the same kind of politician ad nauseam. I realize this is pessimistic but I have no faith that my fellow Americans are capable of learning anything.
I didn't know her age. In my opinion she looks older as does Spanberger. But that's not my point. They're both considered ideal types for the political establishment.
Do you follow Kate Powell, MPE, CFRE? She is on recall of Spanberger path - though not seeing that post right now on her activity. Veto unions, spending bill and one other? Forget your Senate seat you lousy corporate middle POS we don’t want. 😋
As a Virginian residing in the 1rst District I thank you for this information! I try to find out as much information as I can about all the candidates before I vote but I am fairly certain I would not have learned what you have exposed about Ms. Taylor. It would be a lot easier if the MAGA Dems wore the blue version of the hat.
I'm an artist so I code everything visually. I have this comic picture in my mind of candidates wearing red hats, blue hats and red & blue hats!! It helps to laugh.
I was fed up with the DCCC a long time ago. IMO, they (should) have absolutely NO role in the primaries. But that doesn’t stop them. At this point, all it takes for me to not vote for a candidate is finding out they’re getting DCCC or other congressional “leadership" support. DCCC sends me their surveys, and I dutifully fill them out - and they rarely ask the questions I want answered - and tell them what I think. Just so they know every registered Democrat is not on board with them. But I’ve never, and can’t imagine a time when I might, sent them money so they can use it against us.
America has had enough of mega money and corporate sell outs. Anyone taking money from any mega or corporations must not be voted into office. It doesn't mean anything if they are running as Democrats. A politician by any other name will be as sell out rotteness. We want to get this garbage out of office. We don't want them. Be careful who you vote into office. We want to get the present cancer out once and for all. We want true blue, honest, fearless not afraid of a fight representatives that have right and wrong burnt into their souls and the American flag, the American Eagle their North Star.
Honor,Integrity, Truth, Justice, all their inner self.
.the problem is that the 'good'ol'usa's 'systems of governance' no longer work as intended - esp political parties and "primaries" and "big $$$" and . . all need to step back and look at the big picture, the context, rather than always only looking only at individuals. in the the 'good'ol'usa', $$$ distorts and corrupts and is unfair and wasteful and un-democratic.
There's a tell I've been seeing in people who only represent the elite/regime class, as Shannon Taylor does and will. It's their eyes. Their eyes look flat, dead. Every single time!
There are some clear similarities, aren't there? We must reject blind support of wealth and the wealthy. They aren't smart and clearly don't care about anyone else's pocketbook.
Bless you, Qasim, YES!! We cannot keep doing the same old thing. Kind of makes you wonder WHY the "Party" keeps wanting us to do that!!! We are living through Hell here--are they THAT tone-deaf or, rather, what's their ulterior motive. There are plenty of people like myself who are Freaking Angry right now. If the Party keeps giving us this bs, revolution will become our only choice and DO THEY NOT SEE THAT??? As always, thank you for so much that you do, Qasim.
They don't have any choice. The Democratic party must do everything in its power to maintain their influence, because they are bound by the system as much as they control it. So is the Republican party.
The only way to free our democracy is to take action as citizens, collectively. I'm going to be launching a completely free six-episode podcast during the week of June 29 – July 4, during which I hope to convince the majority of Americans on both sides of the aisle to raise our voices and write a new model for our democracy.
The nation is united as it has not been in decades. This gives us political and Constitutional options we have not seen in decades. Please subscribe to UTW and spread the word, so that on June 29 we can hit the ground running faster than they can stop us.
Team R and Team D need each other, the way sports rivals need each other or there is no game, the way Batman doesn't need Robin - he needs The Joker. You can make a perfectly bankable Batman movie without Robin, but take away The Joker and Batman is left as a rich and rather weird LARPer.
For that matter, if Team R were to disappear, the coalition of interest groups that make up Team D would quickly discover that there is no way to share out the goodies in a way that keeps all factions happy, and that these factions do not in fact even like each other all that much.
Team R has a little more overlap, but not much, and that, too is eroding.
You're absolutely correct. I tend to think of them as being sort of like a Generative Adversarial Network, but that's because I'm a giant nerd. 😂 The sports rivals and hero/villain parallels are much easier to understand, so thank you for those, I will totally use them!
And just like the players on a sports field have no authority to change the rules, neither do the Dems or the GOP. The only thing that they *can* do is play the game to the best of their ability—and yes, the fact that "play the game" is an accurate metaphor for our governmental process should absolutely be chilling to any reasonable person.
If UTW is capable of reaching enough people before the inevitable haters (and political actors disguised as haters) drown me and us out, the chances we're able to truly turn this country are better than even, they're nearly guaranteed. That "If" at the front of this paragraph is doing quite a lot of heavy lifting, though. My estimate is that UTW needs to go viral by October if it is to reach enough people, and there's no way at all to guarantee that. Wish me luck!
Thanks for making my decision so much easier. Salaam embodies all that a true Democrat should vote for.
Qasim! I didn't know you ran for Congress in VA!

Shannon Taylor is 58. Not sure if you were referring to A.Spanberger? She's 46.
Do you consider Taylor "an old woman "?
I didn't know her age. In my opinion she looks older as does Spanberger. But that's not my point. They're both considered ideal types for the political establishment.

Thanks for the tip to Kate P. I would love at the very least to rattle AS's cage.

Ha. I picture them with red and blue striped hats!! That's a great image you brought forward!
Thank you. I really like the striped hat idea. It would be more honest in its message than pure blue!

Left and right is backwards on the pictures of the two candidates for virginia.

I see a Liz Chaney type, but even she appears to be more authentic/alive than Shannon Taylor.

Seems like a clear choice. Salaam for the win.
100%
And he did a fantasic job at a candidate forum this week.
That's what I'm hearing! Thank you!

We wouldn’t need a Batman if he used his $ to fix poverty….
Neither Team D not Team R have any interest in doing so. Rather, the point is to keep members of their coalition always wanting, never quite getting.

Thanks for the Heads Up.
Thanks for exposing these bluemaga folks. They are sneaky and disingenuous to the max!
