I have been very conflicted between Juliana Stratton and Robin Kelly. Tell me which one is better. I really want raja to be defeated. Hopefully one of them drops out. Which of the 2 is better?
You are right about Krishnamoorthi. It would be a disaster if he won the primary, which means a win in the general.
Juliana Stratton is the progressive candidate. She will fight for an increase in the federal minimum wage, single-payer healthcare, and an end to ICE--not reforms, abolition.
I have seen the three top contenders in two debates. Stratton is by far the strongest. She is fierce, a true fighter. I'm concerned that the anti-Raja people will split the Kelly/Stratton vote, and we'll end up with Raja.
Kelly is fine. But she has not come out for abolishing ICE, and she doesn't seem to have the fighting spirit I'm looking for in a candidate. And she can't beat Krishnamoorthi.
Governor Pritzker has endorsed Stratton (of course). Our Senator Duckworth and Senator Warren have endorsed her as well.
Indivisible may well be endorsing her in the next few days:
"Juliana has committed to running a campaign fueled by the grassroots; she will not accept a penny of corporate PAC money, and has committed to not supporting Chuck Schumer as Senate leader. If our network across Illinois votes to endorse, we'll offer a suite of resources and support to groups working to elect her."
I'm sorry to say that I sent in my ballot already. Then a friend told me Raja took AIPAC money and when called out about it, he very reluctantly returned it. I voted for his general record and experience in Congress. I feel pretty stupid that I didn't do more digging. I usually do.
Here’s what you can do. Share this piece with everyone you know and get 10 more people to vote against Raja or for Stratton. You can still have a major impact for good!
I just put signs in my yard today, including for Jullana Stratton. I will widely distribute your evidence that sharpens discernment. I thought it was so weird that Raj was running commercials way back in October when he was not on any ballot in November.
Today I also posted a letter from Senator Dick Durbin in support of EPA and its mission of regulating pollutants and maintaining rules that hope to save us from contributing to further climate change. I also received two letters today from Senator Tammy Duckworth that were likewise integrous in response to the topics I wrote her about- including voting against certain Trump-proposed appointees for office. Illinois is lucky to have our Senators who are truly on top of the issues that matter in real time.
We will truly miss the leadership, common sense, extraordinary skills, and gumption of our get-it-done, integrous Senator Richard Durbin!!! He has done so much on the side of good! The Senate will feel the loss as an institution, whoever we elect to replace him. Let it be one of the experienced government women of color, dignity, and fresh eyes and ears who are running for the position that requires a vigilance and diligence like no other time in our lives.
Thank you again, Qasim, for this well-documented advice to follow and get the word out on.
Please look into Dick Durbin. He has a horrible voting record in the senate. He needs to go too. He can't retire soon enough. He's one of the 7 senators who caved to the big stupid bill
I'll do some research as you suggest and you might too. I have watched his voting record since he got in and its pretty good. I use to poay for a service that told me about every bill and he voted right in my view. I strongly disagreed with that vote too, for sure, on the bad ass give to the rich bill but I am not standing where he is and I understood how hard it was to shut all of the government down or just the parts trump has already ruined. He followed his conscience, not ours which was different, but at least he has a conscience to follow. I have conversed with him in person and I believe what I wrote from my conversations with him, the responses to my many letters, from his long long voting record, and frankly, from his many interviews on television. Dealing with a malignant narcissistic toxic spewing King is pretty damn hard, especially when Congress has lost dignity and abdicated power to the raging bull.
He didn't follow his conscience. He followed the money. And he shouldn't be voting with his conscience instead of ours. He works for us. I'll go look at all his votes though since you suggested it. He's better than a republican so I've voted for him in the general elections, but i wouldn't call him progressive.
Thank you for the alert to check my view. No one is infallible. Senator Paul Simon was the speaker at my 1987 law school graduation at NIU and he had hard shoes to fill so we do have a nice history with our senators, even if not with respect to three past jail bird governors. Anyway, I hope one of the women win this seat! Right now, I hope that is Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton but I do not know enough about the other lady other than she is well-liked and thought to be effective.
Hey! Paul Simon spoke at my college graduation (UIUC). What a fun coincidence! Thank you for reminding me to look through more of his voting record. There are a few things I missed previously! I'm extremely angry about his vote on the BBB, though. I understand that a lot of people were suffering short term but now he's made it possible for dhs to continue to act with impunity and with a ridiculously large budget. I think that was kind of a fatal move
I researched every candidate before filling out my early voting ballot yesterday. I was determined not to vote for anyone who accepted large sums of money from AIPAC or who supported MAGA-anything. My research was eye-opening.
I hope Illinoisans take the time to look up information about each candidate, who sponsors them, and what causes they believe in or fight for. I learned that Krishnamoorthi is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
I get aggravated every time I see his ads on TV. He acts like a progressive and he's absolutely not, as you've shown. I'm scared to death that we're going to get a republican governor too. I'm hanging on by a thread right now and having another republican governor might push me over the edge ugh
I was going to vote for Raja until I read this about who was supporting him, sent an email to him and never got an answer. Thank you for your information. I really was shocked to learn about him. Now I realize before voting for someone, one better check who is supporting him with money. The other day he said in an ad the average contribution he has was $37. So he lies also, not unlike our president!
Glad I am not in Illinois because Raja ticks all the bad boxes! Israel, AIPAC, & Palantir, particularly - YUCK! THE DEM voters need to figure who is running in their state & do their research! NOT more of the "lesser of two evils"! Thanks for the heads up on this one!
I've lived in different states over the years, and Krishnamoorthi is the absolute worst Congressperson I've ever dealt with.
He ignores constituent emails, packs his town halls with sympathetic supporters, ignores progressive and independent media, and never utters a syllable that hasn't been pre-vetted by Jeffries.
He's as complicit an enabler of fascism as Democratic leadership, which is why he's been flooded with corporate and dark money.
Big fat NO vote!!
I have been very conflicted between Juliana Stratton and Robin Kelly. Tell me which one is better. I really want raja to be defeated. Hopefully one of them drops out. Which of the 2 is better?
I like them both for different reasons. Polling indicates Juliana is much closer to winning.
This guy is a MAGA stooge. He is not a Democrat.

Abolish ice would get my vote!
Exactly. And she's the only one of the three calling for it.

Dick Durbin is retiring. The primary race is to choose the Democratic candidate in the race to fill his seat.
I know. But I still can't wait for him to retire.

He’s done
They’re running for his seat
I know. That's why I said that he can't retire soon enough :) I just think it's good to be informed about it even if he's not running again
7 democratic senators*
Hopefully Illinois doesn't get the ole bait and switch that we here in Pennsylvania got with the heinous Ogre John MAGA Fetterman.
I researched every candidate before filling out my early voting ballot yesterday. I was determined not to vote for anyone who accepted large sums of money from AIPAC or who supported MAGA-anything. My research was eye-opening.

Wow. He was one of Lombard’s reps but I have never heard any of this until now, which is very concerning. Thanks for posting.
Voting for Stratton.

why? Fetterman needs company? 😒🍸

Thanks for the heads-up.
1,000% agree.

It's also why he wasn't endorsed by Pritzker.
He's here for raw power, not for public service. That much is clear.
