I like this pope, he speaks truth to power, supports science, banning the death penalty and treating imigrants as the "stranger " we should welcome at our table.

- Endorsing stricter gun control? As a Life Member of the NRA I support keeping firearms out of the hands of those that will do harm with them. Red flag laws as long as due process is followed? Absolutely. A free national license that requires training before issuance (but no database of purchases) that must be presented at the time of purchase? No problem! Registering before exercising our Constitutional right to vote is mandatory, too. In theory, isn't presenting proof of citizenship and registration what Trump wants to do for exercising our right to vote? Background checks? At the commercial level, yes, but it is not practical at the individual level unless there is a national database, which should not be allowed, just as a record of individual votes is not allowed. Prosecuting violations of firearms laws to the fullest extent allowed? Yes, and the penalties must not be plea bargained down, nor combined with other penalties. Each violation must be summed to give a total sentence that must be served.

I find it telling that so many so-called "devout" Catholics are so quick to adore Trump and condemn Pope Leo, while so many of us so-called "lapsed" Catholics are sitting up and taking notice and loving his adherence to the Gospel that we actually learned as children in Catholic school. I said Long Live Pope Leo this very morning, so I could not agree more! Thank you, Qasim as usual.

I am so happy to see the Pope rightfully calling out this sadistic and morally bankrupt administration but (as a former raised catholic) find it equally interesting that the sexual abuse of children is largely missing from his rhetoric. The Catholic Church is and has been a safe harbor for pedophiles and would not be so without the complicity from the ENTIRE church.
