How in the world can trump or vance lecture the Pope, of all people, about christianity. The photo of doctor trump and these posts, offend ALL people. You don't have to be Roman Catholic or any religion, to find this morally degenerate, .... particularly, because of who these reprobates are!

Pope Leo is only for universal rights if you aren't lgbtq÷. He is certainly better than Trump but let's not forget his intolerance towards that community.

What the Pope stands for is beyond Trimp's understanding. How can a cynical narcissist like him comprehend that practically every act and desire of his is contrary to the tenets of Catholicism? At best, he hopes he can negotiate around all that (mostly, it seems, by shouting loudly).

But since the job description of a Pope (or for that matter, any sincere religious leader) is to remain steadfast and promote virtue, humility, honesty, love, charity, justice, and above all, sincere faith - you can't be the Pope just some of the time. That's not how it works.

Popes and other religious leaders aren't cowed or impressed by a Donald. Across history, they've seen his type before and weathered their ire over and over again. And when the weather cleared, the tenets and representatives of their religion remained while each new Ozymandias had vanished. That too is something Guilty Donnie's broken mind can't comprehend.

When a Catholic and a follower of Islam, agree on basic principles of humanitarian justice, we have to acknowledge, (agnostic/atheist etc. or not) that there IS a segment of our species that operates within a framework of pacifism, non-aggression, and morals and ethics that promotes good will and tolerance.

Even as we do so, we also have to acknowledge that there is an opposing segment of the species that operates within a framework of fear fueled aggression and a hair trigger rage wreaking great harm on every life form within range of that rage. Perhaps in some future, we will find antidotes to this rage. - medical? psychological? behavioral? or genetic. If humanity survives that long.

Never thought that I'd side with a Catholic Pope, and I'm agnostic as heck.

Agnosticism, at its best, should clarify one's mind to erase old prejudices and accept the possibility of tolerance and co-existence.

Thank you Qasim for your well researched article about Pope Leo. He is definitely a good man and a great leader for his church. He is saying nothing controversial about what the church stands for... to be followers of Jesus. I have always wondered how some other Christian churches could justify their advocacy of Trump's policies when they push for denying the lessons of Christ's teachings. It really makes no sense.

Trump is inhuman. He has no moral code, is allergic to the truth, builds his energy from cruelty and violence with his crowning jewels, his monetary greed, his sexual abuse of women and children and his sociopathic belief that only he must be pleasured by everyone. They must debase themselves whenever he wishes, and then he discards those same people when he has no more use for them. Trump ALWAYS blames others for the thousands of failures in personal relationships. He has limitless arrogance combined with historical failures in all his businesses. His only language skills are vulgarity, ignorance and profound lying in all matters. No wonder our country is on the verge of collapse.

Rather than inhuman, he is the aggregation of most of the worst human traits that bedevil our species.

I don’t believe in a single Anti Christ. It’s just an allegory for chaos, destruction, violence, greed, hate, lies, etc. Trump is the epitome of the Anti Christ with his sidekick in arms , Bastard Bibi. There have been several Anti Christs, including Hitler. Just a thought.

Even maga (to some degree) have problems defending these attacks on the pope. Of course for many of the maga bullhorns (especially the paid ones) This is a time for them to double down. But maga didn't want more wars, funding other wars. They were already split on Ukraine. But Israel has become a thorn in their side also. Splitting them even more, especially when they see what Israel and the US attacks. Schools, infrastructure, hospitals, desalination plants. Just as Israel has done to Gaza, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria (and still is) . And then theres Tucker Carlson, MTG, Candance Owens, hell even Ann Coulter. It's a growing number of influencers on the right. Joe Rogan criticize more than he praises these days, especially on the Epstein files. But then all of a sudden he is back in the Oval office for the signing of an EO to fasttrack psychdelic drugs approval.

very good and timely article to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the passing of Pope Francis, Pope Leo's very good friend 🕊🍸

Excellent article, reinforcing what I think we all knew to be true -- Pope Leo is a courageous leader whose moral clarity stands as an example of what we can and should aspire to.

(Oh. I ended a sentence with a preposition. Mea culpa...)

Hillary Clinton’s pro-death penalty stance prohibited me from voting for her. Born, baptised, raised RC, the New Testament was required reading every school year for 8y so I’m thoroughly familiar. I love Pope Leo even tho I stopped believing in religion a long time ago. After reading this abt Robert Prevost, I see why! He’s a human being who embodies all the good of Jesus’s and St. Augustine’s teachings. Unlike JD 😂 Vance, who’s not a Catholic or a xtian, even for a minute. 😂 No one who grew up Catholic like I did believes that Vance, Bannon et al are Catholics! 😂😂😂

As an atheist I admire pope Leo XIV very much for his high morality: active anti-racist, empathic compassion for the poor and for displaced persons, understanding the urgency of the need to combat climate change. A humble GREAT AMERICAN. An example to follow closely. Viva il Papa!
