Another form of gerrymandering on an industrial scale.

All part of the plan!

Lets look at what I carry in my wallet: (1) drivers license (2) passport (3) Dept of Defense ID and Privileges card (4) Dept of Veterans Affairs Healthcare ID, and (5) birth certificate…and they will still question my right to vote. I’m reminded of what Dick Gregory made us laugh about back in the 60s when he told audiences: “See, you’ve been voting for a long time, I haven’t. Back in my home town, they make us take a test to vote. Nuclear physics in Russian. If you pass the test, they tell you ‘Boy, you can’t vote, you read Russian, you must be communist.”

Just like people ignored the Agenda47 and Project2025 blueprints for authoritarian coups of today.

Pay attention people!

I’ve told both my daughters — under NO circumstances should you change your names.

Their plan is to leverage this into bringing all women, non-whites, and poor into complete disenfranchisement.

No doubt.

Gotta have a Id to get on a library computer but not vote, gotta have a id to fly but not to vote, gotta have a id to buy alcohol but not vote. Once again you democrats are on the 20% side of the issue. News flash dems, majority of minorities and Americans want voter id.

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

You're horribly HORRIBLY ignorant.

We already show our ID to vote when we register to vote. The SAVE Act arbitrarily changes ID requirements and forces yet ANOTHER ID. We *already have* voter ID and it works. Stop gaslighting and stop bootlicking fascism.

J h's avatar

If what your saying is true, then you would have absolutely no problem showing Id again to vote. I’ll gladly lick that boot if it means we get secure voter id.

I have a question in good faith. I absolutely agree that this is bad legislation that needlessly complicates voter registration and should be opposed on that grounds alone. However, would the SAVE Act invalidate the voter registration of married women who are already registered to vote and have voted in previous elections? Would they need to re-register? My concern is that the 69 million figure you provided includes a large chunk of unaffected married women. Apologies if I misunderstood, but as a married man, this whole thing has made me wonder if my wife will be affected

Yes. Unless she changes her birth certificate to her changed/married name. Qasim can correct me if I’m wrong

Saw that Qasim liked this. This is gonna have very interesting repercussions in my household if it comes to pass lol. My wife (de facto MAGA) and I (anti-MAGA) have had a conversation about this, and she said she’s “been hearing about it for almost a year” and is convinced it’s Democratic scaremongering and won’t apply to her

For her part, it’s not so much idolization of Trump as it is the conviction that Democrats are THE cataclysmic evil in America, and abortion has a lot to do with that

Andrew Arrow's avatar

God, how do you two live together in the same house? You must be a saint.

Statistically, more Republican women are married than Democratic women (and probably more likely to take their husband’s name) so it really seems like this legislation will bite Republicans in the ass… unless the calculus is that MAGA assumes a significant portion of women married to Republican men will vote the opposite way

Guess it always has been misogyny lol

Has to pass the senate with 60 votes. Seems their only hope is to nuke the filibuster. Not impossible

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

I wouldn't put it past them at all.

Troy's avatar

If they do, oh boy are they in for it if Dems ever regain power. Let’s hope they aren’t that foolish, but they are cornered and may do it anyway.

I have been talking about this SAVE act everywhere and to everyone for over a year now. People look at me stunned and are absolutely not motivated to do anything about it. People seem to think it won’t happen - just like they deluded themselves into thinking that women would not lose the right to bodily autonomy. It’s Groundhog Day. I found the most resistant people to be intelligent, progressive women. Perhaps a defense mechanism that prevents them from actually internalizing the danger of this is at play. I’m not without persuasive skills, but this is eerily, not believed let alone taken seriously. If anyone knows of any efficient, competent organization to help spread this word, please post it here. If I had enough money to rent billboards and advertising space on trucks and public spaces I would, but I don’t. Hence, I request ideas. Women’s organizations don’t even seem interested in stopping the Save act from becoming law.

Thanks again Qasim for your consistent effort to stop democracy’s demise.

Never forget that the majority of white women voters voted for this regime.

At time of writing, my phone is put of service, but I can restack it.

Frankly, these literal Nazis don't want to compete in a fair and equitable playing field be THEY KNOW THAT THEY WILL LOSE. So, they're opting to try to rig the game so that don't have to compete with anyone outside their in group in the first place.

If our votes didn't matter, then why are the fucking fascists working so hard to remove our ability to vote at all?

katsden's avatar

thank you. already called, and fyi the act was retooled and another danger added. the act would force all states to turn over the voter rolls, including information in which elections, the votes cast. Recently a federal judge denied the executive branch their suit against Oregon for this information. undoubtedly this is precedent for other states. the surreptitious stealth to use the ‘save’ act to rig the 2026 and beyond elections … yes, i did already call. please let your subscribers know the addendum information! 🙏🏼

Here is where we stand right now. Some of the Democrats need to grow spines and gonads. trump needs to be tried for treason, crimes against humanity, pedophilia, and murder, or start the process of Impeachment - NOW! This is a despicable, disgusting and deplorable Act. It needs to definitely be quashed. This country is in worse dire straights than ever imagined.
