I appreciate your writing and explanation here, but you took a lot of words to simply state this is ISLAMAPHOBIA

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! You nailed it whole Qasim! (yes, Piker is doing just fine thanks on his own-including an intelligent, insightful, convo last week here at USF's law school -but no one is talking about that are they? his interview with candidate Effie Philips-Staley, also excellent etc.) This is what I appreciate about you, you will get into it, dig deep and call it out!

This is where I respectfully disagree in part, with Mr. Rashid.

James Talarico appeared on Joe Rogan. Talarico is NOT a corporate Democrat. But what he does see is that dialogue is necessary in a democracy. Principle becomes demagoguery if we refuse to listen to other voices. It also shows we have no confidence in our own message.

Jesus went to hell to preach to the lost.

The political reality in a democratic world is that compromises are necessary. The Founders of our nation anticipated such. Choosing which ones to compromise on is always the problem. One issue people are harmful for democracy.

My sister is a one issue voter as an anti-abortionist.

Some Palestinians in 2024 were one issue voters when it came to Gaza and could not support Harris. Look what they got for a President who is now threatening to wipe our millions more Muslims in Iran.

My church is very liberal and many were one issue voters on trans rights. 72% of Americans oppose transmen in women's sports saying they will vote for no candidate who will not support that. Therefore, Gavin Newsome who opposes transwomen in sports will not receive their vote if he runs for President. While I think Newsome is a problem is he a bigger problem than J.D. Vance?

Conservative voices to this point have been unified behind a personality even when his policies are not all their policies. Liberal voices tend to desire to have everything right in one package before they will fork over their votes.

If we are to stop fascism we are going to have to make compromises with one another and maybe even with those with whom we disagree. We're going to have to accept help everywhere we can. If it's Liz Cheney speaking out against Trump, let her speak. If it's Marjorie Taylor Green, let her speak.

We can't afford another loss. Once we regain control we can fight on high moral grounds, but if we don't, we remain in someone else's moral swamp.

Great article. I just wrote my senator (Slotkin) a strongly worded email about exactly this topic. I’m sure it won’t help, but we all have to try something.

I don’t care for Hasan Piker for several reasons I won’t bother writing here. That said, I agree with everything you wrote. The purge of corporate democrats is essential.

Oops…above note cut short by a ‘finger foul’! As I was saying, I truly appreciate your educational article re: the hypocrisy in our American political process. At this critical point in history we must peacefully push back against hate, bigotry, and dis/mis information! We must continue to unite & move towards acceptance of diversity, human rights, and peaceful co-existence. Support prodemocracy organizations, such as: the ACLU; Democracy Forward; LULAC; Common Cause; and Protect Democracy; etc….

I don't think Netanyahu is a war criminal because he's Jewish anymore than I think Trump is a war criminal because he's American Christian.

Exterminating a people and bombing children's schools should go beyond nationality or religious accusations. These are inhumane practices.

A big amen (amin) to all of that!! Corporate Dems are so tainted by the Israeli PAC money they keep taking that they just can not be trusted to lead anymore. They're attacking Piker because they're deathly afraid of losing their money and power. I will never vote for any Dem who is still craven enough to continue being complicit in the Israeli genocides. Funny how Israel is not putting any of its soldiers in harm's way, even though they are the only country that is benefitting from this bs war.

I remain a registered Democrat but only so I can vote AGAINST those dems who support genocide and the defense industry. If that's you, please retire and take your AIPAC millions with you.

Mob mentality without thought. Safety in numbers. Non critical thinking. This is one of reasons that we are where we are. People who are independent thinkers that point out the facts are piñatas. They are targets because I have learned most people hate having their misconceptions shattered. It’s part of their identity and armor. I’m curious how many people have become loners because of this.

Worshiping personalities while overlooking their racism does not help help the democrats. Piker needs to also be called out for his anti black racist tropes even if he is right on the question of the genocide going on in Gaza and now southern Lebanon.

Thank you, well written, and needs to be widespread!

Liz Cheney sucks. I never understood how she could be so cherished asking questions about Jan. 6. She’s evil, just like her father. Kamala Harris! Who wouldn’t change a thing the way Biden was doing things. Hello!!!Gavin Newsom, or as they refer to him in California, “gruesome newsom” is also so questionable. Ben Shapiro, Mona Charen, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller…. With all the Corporate Democrats…

I did not know this about Bill Maher! It doen’t surprise me though. What did surprise me was Cory Booker… so many years I respected him so much, like Newsom, he has a gift of gab. He literally saved a woman’s life by running into a burning building! But he is taking thousands from AIPAC. He’s a major fraud.

Keep writing and keep us informed.

The past year and a half, or more, has opened my eyes to the appalling extent of hypocrisy in government--R and D. It must be true that "ignorance is bliss" because right now my stomach hurts in antipation of the threats against Iran tonight. I am at the end of my rope with everyone in this government--ALL they care about is money. Fuck money and may God save Iran.

Very well written and easy to follow commentary. The logic is clear and simple - making the hypocrisy of Piker critic super obvious.

Thank you for your consistent and persistent analysis and clear thinking.
