That’s what the almighty Euros do. Don’t like to put everyone in the same basket, but white peoples gotta white. This phrase was taken from a post I read from ( I can’t quote it). Use your imagination. I’ve been through this most of my life, and now people tell me I’m white. Funny, how age can change pigmentation. Actually, I pass for Arab. 🥰
Quasim, please, add to this the plight of the buffalo soldiers. black men who were sent west to "pacify" the indian (read that as destroy) Fort Lowell, here in tucson, arizona, is one of the remaining forts where the buffalo soldiers were stationed, yet it is never mentioned here. thank you, t
This practice has been expanded upon and continues to this day. I am white but was born to inherent poverty, so the state kidnapped me from my family as a child. I was put into christian nationalist foster homes where I was forced to pray before I was allowed to eat, if the home even had food. The money that was supposed to go to the children was used for the parents personal items. I was forced to labor for the state (county) literally signing over my paycheck to the county every 2 weeks. I had to purchase my own freedom when I turned 18.
Thats just scratching the surface of my experience and I share it so that people understand that this is not an isolated or historic incident. Vagrancy laws were first used against indigineous peoples and now used against american born houseless people. Every law used against a minority always comes back to haunt everyone.
Much of this is covered annually, along with indigenous community building ceremonies for USA and other First Nations, at the Alcatraz Thanksgiving Sunrise celebration broadcast live and archived at KPFA radio.
Important all Americans know the real truth about what Europeans did to the Natives. I celebrate Thanksgiving as Friendsgiving, with family and friends, not celebrating Columbus, and trying to rectify the past through present actions.
All ways brilliant and spot on. Wish folks would take even a small increment paying to a local First Nation organization where they live and thrive on stolen land
Thank you for this coverage! My wife and I just returned from this year’s event in Plymouth-acknowledging the harms of the past (and present), reminded of the resilience of indigenous peoples here and around the world, and gathering strength in solidarity for the work to be done. Invites speakers included voices from Haiti, Maya elder, Taino people, and others. Thank you!
A very good article on the truth of the genocides the European white people did to the Native Indian tribes in America. Thank you for posting your article to remind us we must make good on our actions from years ago to establish a country that is fair and equal to all.
I appreciate that you use the term “indigenous Americans” and not “Indians” who are from India. Colón was not only a cruel psychopath, but he was a blundering fool who thought he had found India (which was the goal of the monarchs all along). So, of course, the native folks he encountered were “Indians.”
Maybe we can all have a national day of thanksgiving on the day that this country pays reparation to indigenous Americans, relatives of slaves and illegally deported immigrants. I would happily and gratefully dedicate a day of thanks to that!
To add the colonizers were actually criminals being sent here to resettle.

Racism and Fascism, the two-headed poisonous snake used by elites to divide and conquer!
United, we stand strong!
Thank you, Rashid, for shining light on the dignity and resilience of our Indigenous communities!
May I suggest a book which beautifully highlights indigenous attitudes towards Mother Earth, Braiding Sweetgrass!
If I was not clear, a look at the horror the white "government" imposed on black soldiers angers me still.

Thank you again Qasim!! -
It is important and essential for healing to own this nation's true history
