Is there an argument to be made that some people (singular and groups) who have more money than morals; delight in the mischief, the opportunities to cause havoc, the opportunities to make even MORE money, or occupy more land, or to screw with OTHERS they perceive as evil enemies (e.g. too much like themselves)???

It appears to me that suddenly, the world is running amok with fear and greed and brain fevers. As though they suddenly have no distant horizons to strive for, only immediate desolation devouring their futures?

I don’t know what’s happening in Sudan. I need to go get educated.

I think it's so important to showcase the few decent Congresspeople we have. So many of my friends on the left get cynical and go on about how they're all the same, the Dems are just as bad as the Repugs, etc, etc.

But they're not all the same, the real fight is within the Dems, corporatist warmonger Dems vs actually decent Dems, and we need to support the decent ones.

So thanks for this.

This is a great point, Elizabeth. So many people group all Democrats as being spineless and corrupt, which is not true. I’m grateful to Qasim and other progressive Substacks for highlighting some of the “good” ones.

I am so glad to see all of these new good leaders in politics - perhaps, once the dust has cleared, we can decide on some common-sense term limits and stop making politics a career, and not the higher calling it should be.

No. A few of the best have been around for ages, and they get experience and get better. And why shouldn't it be a career? If you're good at something you should make a career of it.

Bernie, for example, was pretty much a failure at several other things he tried. (See if you can find his folksong album - it's hilariously bad, at least the tiny bit I heard). And then he got elected mayor and turned out to be good at it. I would really hate to have had him termed out.

You're not wrong - I was thinking more of the ones profiting from their time in public service.

I'd like to amend my statement to include term limits for those who seem to be in it for the cash.

Finally, there's actually people in congress who aren't ok with being warmongerers.

International law is not optional. It’s mandatory. No funding for genocide. Whether in gaza or Sudan.

Thank you both for this informative interview. It really was refreshing hearing the Congresswoman discuss ACTION she has taken. I am grateful.

Thanks for tuning in, Kathey. Rep Jacobs is absolutely one to lead by example.

It’s a comfort to know some Congress people care for displaced maligned peoples How much of this is our fault for interrupting other governments? One thing for sure, the Iran stand off is just going to add more misery to the world

Yep, well said, Pam.
