Netanyahu Openly Proclaims Genocide—Now What?
We've warned for years that the Netanyahu regime does not want peace and western powers did not listen
This week the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially declared his plan to fully colonize Gaza—and it is critical to recognize how his illegal act harms us all.
Unsurprisingly, Netanyahu is couching his cruel and illegal decision in alleged security by “expanding the military offensive against Hamas.” Never mind that Netanyahu yet again broke the truce between Israel and Hamas. He’s added that this will be an “intensive and prolonged assault.” Netanyahu’s security cabinet has approved a strategy that ultimately includes seizing the Gaza Strip and controlling humanitarian aid. He has furthermore explicitly stated that Israeli troops will not follow the previous model of short-term raids but will instead hold the ground they seize. This is not just another escalation or attempt at security; this is a strategy for occupation and permanent control. This is colonization. It is ethnic cleansing. It is genocide. It is critical we understand what is at stake here and loudly speak out for justice, because nothing good can come from staying uninformed and silent. Let’s Address This.
How We Got Here
For years, we have been warning that Netanyahu is not interested in peace. We have pointed out that he has rejected a two-state solution and denies Palestinian sovereignty, even as international consensus has demanded it. We have noted that Israeli media and his own military generals condemned him for repeatedly blocking a ceasefire deal. We have highlighted that even the families of Israeli hostages call him “Mr. Death,” for insisting on war and refusing peace. But when we spoke out, politicians—including some on the left—mocked us as alarmists, unhelpful, and unreasonable. They told us to trust Biden when he said he was “relentlessly working on getting a deal done.” Yet, even Biden’s own officials now admit that he never once asked Netanyahu for a deal.
This betrayal is profound. It exposes the emptiness of so-called diplomatic efforts and reveals a grim truth: the U.S. government has been complicit in enabling Netanyahu’s campaign of genocide.
Genocide and War Crimes: A Legal Reckoning
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu, accusing him of war crimes and genocide. These charges are not hyperbole. They are grounded in international law, and yet the United States refuses to enforce this warrant (while calling on the world to enforce a virtually similar warrant against Putin for his war crimes against Ukraine). This astounding hypocrisy is not just a moral crisis—it is a legal one. The ICC’s arrest warrants are based on well-documented evidence of these violations. The deliberate targeting of civilians and the systematic destruction of infrastructure necessary for civilian survival constitute genocide under international law.
Trump and HR 867: Criminalizing Free Speech to Silence Criticism
As if complicity in genocide wasn’t enough, the U.S. government under Trump is now actively working to criminalize dissent against Israel’s apartheid policies. As I shared recently, HR 867, if passed, would fine Americans up to $1 million and imprison them for 20 years if they support or participate in peaceful boycotts of Israel. This bill is a direct assault on the First Amendment and on the right to peaceful protest.
By pushing this legislation, the U.S. government is declaring that speaking out against human rights violations is a crime. Imagine if Martin Luther King Jr. had been criminalized for leading the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This bill seeks to silence dissent, effectively making it illegal to stand with Palestinians in their struggle for survival. This is all the more dangerous as Netanyahu moves to commit even more war crimes against the Palestinian people.
This Is Genocide. This Is Fascism. Speak Up.
If you have ever wondered what you would have done during the darkest moments of history—this is your moment. We cannot afford to be silent. We cannot afford to rationalize or justify state-sponsored violence. The inhumanity imposed on Palestinians is not just brutal; it is illegal. It is genocide. It is fascism. And it is the same blueprint being used here in the United States to disappear immigrants and U.S. citizens. This is why what happens in Palestine affects us over here. If we allow our tax dollars to be used to commit genocide abroad, do you really think they can’t be likewise weaponized to destroy democracy at home? The silence from Western leaders and corporate media is complicity. It echoes the tragic historical pattern of turning a blind eye to genocidal violence. Denying due process, raiding homes without warrants, and silencing dissent are the hallmarks of autocratic regimes.
The bottom line is this — Netanyahu is telling the world that he will violently displace 1.7M Palestinians in Gaza, and the United States is funding his genocide. Raise your voice, contact your member of Congress, and continue to speak out against this injustice. Because remaining silent is remaining complicit.
Perhaps I'm too simple-minded, but I will never understand how people don't get this. It's literally happening right before their eyes! Unfortunately, I guess it's more accurate to say, I will never understand how people don't care... 🥺💔
Thank you for this information. I’ve been reading the news reports about this. Netanyahu is both preventing food and medical aid from reaching the civilians in Gaza, he is also destroying their homes, all infrastructure, and forcing them into a small area. My question is, how is he going to prevent future groups from retaliating in the future? His actions are going to cause more suffering and unrest for Palestinians and Israelis alike. I’m sickened that the U.S. government continues to support this war criminal.
