“Budgets are moral documents” shouldn’t be a radical statement, yet here we are pretending spreadsheets don’t quietly decide who gets protected and who gets harmed. The comptroller job sounds boring until you realize it’s basically the last adult in the room asking, “Do we really want taxpayer money paying for this?” Transparency isn’t flashy, but neither is accountability until you don’t have it. Refusing to fund harm isn’t ideology. It’s baseline governance.

My apologies for addressing this here but Substack doesn't reply nor fix the problem. I get nearly 100 substack posts in my email, causing me to lose personally important items. If it doesn't stop I will need to leave Substack. Which I don't want to do.

If you are using your phone, you will want to go to the main screen, click on the icon at the top right to see your profile, then “view profile”, then click the “…” in the top right corner, open “settings” then “notifications”, then select each category and deselect email.

Are you able to go to your account settings and turn off email notifications?

Qasim, as I saw in one of your earlier stack messages, Budgets Are Policy.

What jumps out at us when we look at how the MAGAT regime spends the money WE allot them, they routinely ignore whatever constraints were applied by those budgets and they'll divert the funds in whatever unaccountable and contrary ways they wish. Our current leadership seems to have a hard time understanding that they're dealing with gangsters who won't deal in good faith. It's time for new -aggressive- leadership with clearer sight.
