Of course this goes against freedom of speech! How absurd. Many things to be angry about with Israel, but personally. I am angry that Netanyahu has control now, using hook and crook, to hang onto power and get out of standing trial for HIS crimes. I want the people of Israel to be able to vote in a fair arbiter of justice for all in that war-torn country. What has been done to Gazan peoples, is horrible, and in last few months, reading of the CRIMES committed by Israelis on the West Bank Palestinian farmers, and ALLOWED by Bibi's gov't and army, is totally illegal. Bibi's control over trump, is ridiculous too, with their made-up "Iran is about to nuke us" argument, they have made the whole situation worse for everyone in the mideast.

This law is absolutely ridiculous, people have the right to boycott!

As an indication of the power of the Israel lobby in America, readers should know that this Illinois anti-BDS law was the first of its kind (2015) and was passed UNANIMOUSLY by the 59 members of the Illinois Senate and the 118 members of the Illinois House. This is what fear can do in politics with a majority of the 50 states following Illinois in obedience to Israel.

But let me add more. I wrote to my city council and the mayor, Daniel Biss, who will take a seat in the next Congress for IL-9. My message was a simple request. Please reply to my question - do you stand for liberty and justice for all or ethnic cleansing, its antithesis?

The response? Silence from all ten people including Biss. My original email was sent two years ago. Recently, I thought I would try again. Again, the answer was silence.

Is this not terrifying? In America even local politicians will not immediately stand up for liberty and justice for all out of fear of the blowback from supporters of Israel, a country with 1/40th of the population of the US.

Three cheers for the indefatigable members of Jewish Voice for Peace who have been on the anti-BDS issue like a dog on a bone for years now. Let's do all we can to add our support to people who have put humanity over tribe as we all should.

Here’s a comment to sum everything up, the world is neither flat nor round, it’s fucked. A quote I read from I don’t know where.

Done! I am an IL annuitant, living in MI in retirement, having been a history professor at NIU for 14 years, so my pension is directly impacted by this wretched law. I am Jewish, 79-years old, and have supported BDS fully since the beginning of the IDF genocide, after I read Peter Beinart's persuasive comparison of South Africa (where boycotts helped overturn apartheid) and Israel, which suppressed all non-violent protest.
