Am I the only one who is having difficulty getting the donation mechanism to accept and process my donation? I keep completing the form, but get returned to the beginning of the process each time after hitting the "continue with donation button". Is there an alternative connection I might be able to use more successfully? Thanks!

This is what “thoughts and prayers” looks like when it finally puts on shoes. A hundred children getting hearing aids is not abstract charity; it is a child hearing their mother, their teacher, their own name in a classroom again. And if our tax dollars helped create any part of the suffering, then the least we can do is help repair some small piece of it. Not with guilt theater. With action.

A little put off by the default 16% "tip" they added on. Every place else I've donated asks for a bit more to cover credit cards fees or processing costs, but they *ask* and it's typically 3-5%.

Didn't hesitate to donate (THANK YOU for recommending a good cause to support!) but it left a sour taste about the group managing the donation site.

I believe that's entirely optional and you can put that at 0%.

Grateful for your generous contribution, Christopher. Thank you. ❤️✊🏽

It is, and I did. Happy to contribute and very thankful for your pointing out a worthy cause to help. 💝

It's that there are too many scam sites asking for donations to Democrats or claiming to be for other worthy causes. And the unusually high “tip”, by default, which takes some looking to be able to change, makes it look a bit like one of those.

So… a little “off-putting”. (But not enough to stop donating.)

It is one of Islam's 5 pillars. A tax of 2.5% on stagnant wealth. It is designed to ensure the wealthy do not hoard their wealth, and that they either spend it in the economy or are taxed, whereby those funds are then used to build infrastructure, take care of the poor, support small businesses, etc.

From Google: "Zakat is a mandatory Islamic financial obligation and one of the fFive Pillars of Islam"

A tithe I think.

I've been without US $ income for some months but am hopeful of some in not-too- distant future. When/if it arrives I'll make a donation.

3 out of the 4 people in this house are hearing impaired. My granddaughter and the dog are the only only fully responsive critters. Hope we can contribute before you leave for Syria.

Have you ever contacted Shriners International to see if they can help?

RIGHT ON! Thank you for what you do.

A question... do you know if WCK - World Central Kitchen - has been involved in helpig feed folks in Syria as well, as they're doing in other parts of the Mid East?

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

I'm not aware but wouldn't surprise me.
