I have a very serious question for you Qasim.

What is the name of your pet goldfish?

Seriously, curious minds need to know.

And I have a pet goldfish. Thatโ€™s equally irrelevant to the question

Man, just reading this got me hot. I detest that my black and brown brothers and sisters have to deal with this garbage.

One question though. Do you really have a pet goldfish? ๐Ÿ™ƒ

The ignorance , smugness , lack of humility and general air of superiority is really ugly. Itโ€™s not Christianity. And yet it seems to be in keeping with MAGA. Congrats to you, Qasim, for keeping your cool. I lost mine before I was halfway into reading the conversation. This young man is ineffective in leading people to Christianity and also to converting people to accept the MAGA approach to immigration. Some day I hope he feels deep shame over the way he speaks to people, but I doubt he will

OMG it saddens me that you have to cope with such horrible verbal attacks. Chris is hateful.

My ex-boss was originally from India and when he said that his son went to a group at college for minorities my knee jerk response was "But he's not a minority" because I didn't think of my boss as being a minority. We treated many poor African American veterans and I only thought of them as being in the minority. I thought of my boss as being just like me, American and a doctor.

Iโ€™ve had similar but shorter arguments as I donโ€™t have your patience. While protesting today, one maga drove slowly by yelling at a group to โ€œGo Home!โ€ Because their skin was brown. He also yelled at all of us that weโ€™ve probably never read the constitution. Which was funny because a young boy was marching around with a bull horn reading the constitution. They are not driven by their love for democracy. They are driven by racial hatred and ignorance. Another man drove by shouting โ€œLong live the king,โ€ saying it would be better than what protesters have to offer.

Itโ€™s hard to have serious discussions with people who are motivated by hate because hate is an illogical motivation. Itโ€™s selfish, hurtful, and mean. Itโ€™s pretty clear that any one still supporting Trumpโ€™s regime has been distilled down to an angry racist. There is no discussing morality or democracy with them.

I have no idea how you keep your cool. You are a beacon, a good writer and presumably an amazing lawyer. He really never did answer that first question. Live long and prosper.

Qasim - Where do you get the patience to deal with these idiots? I don't know how you do it or how you stay level-headed when they are constantly insulting you. I am in awe of your super powers. I'm sure you get frustrated at times and, sadly, the shit storm is only going to get worse. Keep hanging in there because we so need people like you with strong backbones and voices of reason. I want to believe we'll get through this, but optimism is really tough to find right now.

Biggest fckg douchbag ever, total ignorant fool he wouldnโ€™t answer the question because it would prove he was both ignorant and wrong about undocumented immigrants total typical MAGA bs ๐Ÿคก

1 win for Qasim

0 for stupid ๐Ÿซ

I feel so sorry for his wife and relatives. He is emotional and not very bright. Sharing this post shows me the depth of hate.

Christ is crying...What an ignorant, low-information guy this is. And our country seems to have an abundance of them. We could probably go back years and years and see how this came to be, but I'm not sure how constructive that would be. Better to address what we can do at this point. Thank God we have many good attorneys, legislators and journalists who bravely continue to work to correct this horrible corruption or America. Thank you for your intelligence and dedication in that effort. I will have you in my mind tomorrow when I am out there protesting.

This is a very important approach to conversations with trolls or christo-fascist morons. Keep THEM on the original subject. Their goal is to fluster you. They failed!๐Ÿ˜„ This is what crawled out when CONVICTED FELON trump set the example of terrorist techniques. Yes, itโ€™s ALWAYS been here, but ostracization and laws prevented an explosion of public expression like this.

I will use this technique because it is so effective. I love how much I learn from fellow SubStackers. The best of society!

Isaac Asimov:

There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.

As Iโ€™ve said, in other posts, some of these pro Trumpโ€™s might understand now that Trump doesnโ€™t have their interest at heart; but youโ€™re not going to get them to change their mind about their political beliefs because they are racist. They grew up with racism, their families are racist. Their friends are racist and of course they are racist, and you just canโ€™t change that they have to unlearn the racism and we all know theyโ€™re too effing lazy to do that. Because white is right in their tiny brains.
