We must understand the deeply racist past behind this phrase, especially as the Trump regime wastes billions on war, corruption, and partying while Americans suffer
Real actions that we need to take is overthrow this government, put Trump and fascist team members behind bars to face charges of treason, corruption and racism, and kick Israel and any Israeli-bought politician out of government.
History is replete with examples of pollution from heavy industry affecting communities of color disproportionately. Look at “cancer alley” in Louisiana as just one example. People living close to those refineries are largely minorities. Look as well at so many of our interstate highway projects, that cut poor and minorities off from the rest of the cities where they were. “The other side of the tracks” literally became the other side of the interstate. What’s harder to cross, a railroad trestle or an interstate? And from there redlining made it easy to pack undesirable people into the “bad” neighborhood, forget about them, and make sure they couldn’t escape out. None of this is an accident, nor is the victim-blaming of these communities for not fixing “their” problems a “misstatement.” It is racism on full unabashed display.
Here’s another “receipt.” Look on any .gov website and try to find references to promoting environmental justice. You can’t, because this regime deleted every single one of them the week they assumed power. Environmental justice IS justice, and this is evidence that they have no interest whatsoever in justice.
There is a saying “shit flows downhill.” Wealthy white folks consume the majority of the natural resources but don’t see the waste created. That burden falls to the folks who lack the capacity to manage it, who lack the political power to stop waste from being dumped in their communities, and who through redlining and other tactics are forced to live amongst it. Again, this is all by design.
I was never into politics, for years I voted R because my parents did. Then I changed and voted D as I became more aware.
Now, the more I learn about our government and the history of what was done, I’m speechless.
I’ve always known racism was a constant problem, I just didn’t realize how many Americans feel that way. Some of my own family and friends have come into the light of the day with who they truly are. Needless to say, we don’t speak often.
I’m already a paid sub for Islam Today, but have become one, For Let’s Get Into It. I appreciate your writing, and bringing more awareness to the plight of black, brown, indigenous, Asian, etc.
We are all human beings, deserving respect, inclusion, compassion, and humane treatment. It hurts my heart every single day
Brilliant writing. I was aware of these receipts you listed, but to have them together and to clearly point out the obvious is to strengthen the call of action you have at the end. You are exactly right that hate is not sustainable. I pray that you are right about this being a last gasp for white supremacy.
Small government means a government that exists for the benefit of a small number of people. Who happen to be rich, white, "Christian" males. It's a club, and we ain't in it.
Qasim, you got it!! When it's for THEM, it's all the $$$ they can spend!! I had seen hegseth's totals on one of MS NOW's programs -- I'm sure those NOT receiving food stamps any longer, would have LOVED to eat a King crab's leg! -- they've never had one, and never will.
There are young people running for office, from Leaders We Deserve, and independents, that I expect to win -- it's slow, but times are achangin'. IN THE MEANTIME, ..... people are dying in this EGO-centric war, run by these know-nothing criminals. trump is to blame for all of this -- he put these idiots around him. Before the epstein files, .... I didn't realize that, not just here, but the whole world is run by enormously rich & powerful & unethical people. It's a long battle we have ahead, and I will be dead before I see all the good results, but I DO believe good will win.
It’s interesting how the phrase “small government” has always had a very flexible definition. When the government is building highways, subsidizing industries, or funding programs that benefit certain groups, suddenly nobody calls it big government. But when the same government tries to expand opportunity more broadly, then the alarm bells start ringing.
History shows that the real debate has rarely been about the size of government. It has usually been about who the government is working for. And that question has been sitting quietly underneath American politics for a very long time.
Excellent analysis, I approve this message. Sadly, the Democratic Party is weak and not willing to meet the moment with the truth. If they manage to regain the house (which they never should have lost), they just want to reestablish the status quo, which is why were are in this place. The status quo is just another cog in the machine of white supremacy. America and the west overarching political system is that of white supremacy. It’s not about individual people, it is about dismantling that evil system of suppression to anyone who doesn’t fit into the mold.

Great analysis and history lesson.
And here is another one: Environmental racism.

Thank you for calling it what it is, economic warfare.
Mortgage financing help mostly went to white baby boomers.
GI Bill famously mostly only benefited white veterans.

Wow thank you for the History lesson. Qasim you’re great at making people aware of history. 👏🏻✌🏻
This is an excellent piece. I shared it with others & I am putting it in my "tuck this away for when you need it" email folder.
:)
an eye opening article…
Good, thoughtful, informative debunking of the myth. Thank you.
