Nekima Levy Armstrong was one of the people in Minneapolis calling for the Target boycott in the home of Target. Please don’t erase her contribution.

The last step of “working,” though, is when those corporations reverse their positions. There’s a lot of public goodwill down the drain here, after years of believing that companies can do good and still do well (and, of course, all the actual evidence that strengthening diversity and community ties improves workforce performance). It will be a while before I re-subscribe to the WaPo despite its latest efforts to bring in outside voices (let me know if they call you, though!).

I haven’t seen any data on Amazon boycotts. I’ve seen a lot of advice on how to get off Amazon, and I’ve moved almost all of my purchases away, but I wonder where it stands in this picture.

What about Amazon? Bezos lives there, too.

Rashid! How do we get corporate interests out of the Democratic leadership?

We’re with you 💯 %, Rashid!

IMHO people can do much than only boycott the Oligarchs!

The Oligarchs have taken over the Republican Party, the Congress, the Supreme Court and now the Presidency!

Here’s how to get them BENDING THEIR KNEES!

Stop all unnecessary spending!

SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Yes, shop locally and small stores!

Yes! Boycott ALL BIG BOX RETAILERS!

We MUST bring the economy to standstill!

Yes! This strategy is PAINFUL!

But the loss of our democracy is more than painful!

It’s a tragedy!

Our ancestors died to give us this precious gift of freedom!

Let’s take it back!

This is absolutely wonderful news! I dropped my WaPo subscription at least eight months ago. Target is a bit more difficult primarily due to quality over another HUGE chain owned by a multi-billionaire family.

No WaPo subscription to cancel here, but I did cancel my Amazon subscription.

I also cancelled Amazon, and it has made a difference. Has kept me from needless purchases.

Thank you for all your amazing work Qasim! We needed this news so badly, we are the ones with the power and we are using it! Keep it up everyone. Boycott any brand that has collabed with Trump. If you can’t get off big chains buy only essentials. I’m lucky to be able to buy most things locally, fuck these corps!

I absolutely love the sarcasm. If only everyday, struggling folks weren’t so deliberately ‘targeted’ (pun intended) to rely on these huge corporations! But as you point out, Costco is a lesser evil. Still, it is incumbent on those of us who aren’t living meal to meal to stop being lazy about the way we spend our hard earned money. We should all dial back the inconvenience excuse, as it (think Amazon) is more directly related to the atrocities in Gaza and Unkraine than we really care to know. And I will continue to harp on pensions and investments, for those of us lucky enough to have them. Ignorance is only bliss when you don’t know that your pensions, etc. are directly fueling endless wars.

I wanna know why Doug Emhoff is staying with his capitulating “Peace in Our time” law firm. It’s unseemly and a bad look for Kamala, who’s no doubt going to run in ‘28. But honestly, by the end of her campaign, she seemed only interested in attracting the moderate Republican vote anyway.

I kept my Washington Post subscription. They still do reporting that in no way kisses up to tRump. and have been thorough in reporting the truth about DOGE. We need legacy media as well as independent writers. I get the sense that Post writers and cartoonists can't get away with criticizing Jeff Bezos, but telling the truth about tRump is allowed. Some of my friends who dropped the Post now read Heather Cox Richardson, who frequently cites the Post.

All any of these companies need to do to turn their problems around is change back to their original commitment to DEI. One must wonder why they haven’t figured it out yet.

I guess, but isn’t it costing them money and giving their “brand” a black eye? I guess they care more about licking the boot than their bottom line? But sort of anti-capitalistic isn’t it? It’s weird, even if it’s true.

I always avoided target, I thrift most clothing, higher quality than I could afford , some new , cheap. Especially when the tourists leave. Food shopping, I used to love Costco. Unfortunately there’s none within a reasonable distance. We do have a great New England supermarket market basket which is 2 miles away, as opposed to 2 hours with expensive tolls for Costco and has an amazing story behind it . Cheaper too than other supermarkets.

I never liked tesla and when my son was selling high end used and collectible cars, he hated selling teslas as they always came back. My son has my Toyota Camry and I have my recently departed father’s Subaru, forester or outback. Idk I don’t think much about cars. The Subaru is practable as we live in maine. They are 2014 and 2016. The Toyota has excellent tires and is reliable in the snow. As far as lawyers go I hope that I don’t need one.
