The continued hypocrisy of the DOJ.

He is following the orders of his leader Nut+yahoooooo.

Garlin is another Israel Zionist stooge in the American government serving his master and their cult of death!

Netanyahu is a terrorist. My evidence? He financed HAMAS. Netanyahu is looking to influence the US Elections. This must NEVER be forgotten, EVER. He must become persona non grata, ASAP.

garland doesn’t do ‘jack crap’ his entire AG tenure… and now this…

exemplary of our system in action.

The hypocrisy of the U.S. government is ridiculous. The U.S. govt is more than happy to make all kinds of plans to enforce laws against harming U.S. citizens - when it's Hamas doing the harming. But not when Israel is the perpetrator. The injustice is extreme and we're not going to shut up about it.

This is because Israel is ostensibly an "Ally". Change that statue first then the rest of the issues will fix themselves.

Perhaps Garland can charge the US govt for the same while he’s at it. At least Hamas has the excuse of fighting a brutal 75-yr occupation — not super different from the IRA and others. What’s America’s excuse?

Merrick Garland has been a disaster on all fronts. Sadly this time he is cahoots with AIPAC (which funds most US politicians of both parties without needing to register as a foreign agent - supposedly because they represent American Jews although many American Jews do not agree with AIPAC’s genocidal pro settler stance)

thank you Quasim Rashid for your writing. amidst all that stirs, the needless bombings of hospitals, schools. shops etc. and the horrifying imprisonment with rape, torture and starvation of the medical personnel… beyond words what that is. as generic citizen all i have is my vote towards democracy yet i weep.

Excellent, well-written, and frustrating post, Qasim. We are drowning in sea of hypocrisy!

We have a lot of criminality going on at home that Garland & the DOJ should spend a lot more time on, such as the many high profile crimes Trump has committed (beyond just the ones that he's already been convicted on or charged with), as well as Musk as well as many Republican members of Congress & former members of the Trump administration. Nearly 4 years in charge of the DOJ, & Merrick Garland has precious little to show for it at the time when justice for high crimes & treason is most needed. He's very selective in whom he charges, & they are virtually never members of the highest levels of government & corporate world who have proven themselves the most dangerous people to this erstwhile democracy, the ones the American people want & expect the AG, DOJ & FBI to focus on.

Thank you for your timely and accurate articles. It is hard not to feel powerless as an individual sometimes, but here in the States we have far more power than we think.

Thank you and agreed

Not long after Garland's confirmation to become Attorney General, I came to believe that on one point, Mitch McConnell and I were in agreement--though for completely different reasons: Merrick Garland should never have a position on the Supreme Court.

Thank you, Mr. Rashid, as always, for a lucid, rigorous essay. It's appalling, and criminal, that you have to write it all. But here we are.

It's hard to say how or where Garland would come out on these momentous cases the Supreme Court has taken on in the last several years. I originally thought he would be very much in the middle, between the Democratic & Republican picks, & therefore my opinion was that he should've been confirmed as justice of the US Supreme Court, & a much more activist prosecutor such as Preet Bharara or Kamala Harris chosen as Attorney General. But his behavior as AG in which he seems very selective in which cases to prosecute, & they almost never include treasonous crimes committed by Republicans in high places, suggests he might rule very similarly to the justices nominated by Trump.

Thank you and yes well said. Imagine him being on SCOTUS. Wouldn’t be much different than Alito.

I continue to learn from the comments section. In my limited world, I read. The two people I know, don’t. One is politically savvy. Everyone else doesn’t care. Only on these sites do I find inquisitive and insightful beings. We need not agree. The other side can also point out our flaws, although it’s difficult to see.😂

I’m not sure how to address this. I’ve been following Mr. Garland on many other issues, and it seems that he’s been delinquent on other matters that involve our fragile democratic republic not only this tragic issue. In reading so many opinions from other sites, the broad consensus is he’s either a coward or a Republican schill. He is considered a failure as an attorney general.

What to do? Who can I talk with to express my absolute outrage at AG Garland? It is beyond outrageous, actually. The power of AIPAC to run the country.

Continue to raise our voices for justice and ensure our elected officials know this is an injustice we will hold them accountable for at the ballot box.

Some of us have been saying Merrick Garland needs to grow a spine or resign for a long time now to no avail. Biden wanted to be a good president to all Americans so bent over backwards to include Repubs, for which they were not at all accepting. Merrick Garland only cares about his party - the Republican Party.

Another black mark against Biden (& Obama)

Hopefully Harris will get rid of him.
