Won’t it be wonderful when he wins?

Not that the leadership from either party will learn from it. But we can move on without them.

Schumer and Gillibrand must go. Gillibrand was the architect of Al Frank’s removal. People need to remember that. Schumer speaks for irresponsible self.

Schumer and Gillibrand both need to be primaried for multiple reasons, but their unwavering loyalty to Israel is clearly problematic. Mamdani is the real thing, a better political candidate hasn’t come along since a young Obama. The opposition is upset about the brown Muslim man, and the proponents are about the content of his being. Which is the rational choice?

Vote Mamdani for NY mayor. 💙

I guess I’m just naive, but I am shocked by Democrats attacking him based on religion. They have no other reason to attack him, because his policies scream “Democrat.” And he is popular with the voters Democrats need to win.

And I’m disgusted that so many party leaders are bigots.

I'm not shocked at all. Sadly Corporate Democrats can be just as bigoted as Republicans when it comes to the American Muslim community.

I just upgraded to your paid subscription. I have been saying is do it for a couple of weeks. Finally did.

I am thoroughly disgusted and sickened by the amount of Islamophobia, antisemitism, xenophobia and the “othering of mostly white people. I am white. I don’t understand how there can be so much hatred for so many.

It would take less energy to just be kind to one another and embrace our differences instead of driving wedges and sowing hate.

I wish I lived in New York, just for this vote. I agree with what Mamdani stands for and I will be very happy when he wins.

Thank you for continuing to speak and hopefully, opening up some minds to the facts that most of us in this world just want to live our lives in peace working and raising our families without threats or fear.

That is a world we could all be happy in.

The hatred buried in the hearts of many Americans is what has disturbed me the most in this horrible administration. I wish Mr. Mamdani and New Yorkers all the best. May his mayoral campaign and administration succeed in bringing the city to new prosperity and goodwill.

Antisemitism and islamophobia are indeed two sides of the same coin struck in mercury, which is poison and liquid at room temperature.

Stress test for American democracy? I'd suggest any democracy America may have had, is now smashed into little pieces on the floor.

Frank Sinatra used to be fond of calling New York “the greatest city in the world.”

I would say to Stephen Miller that NYC’s greatness is precisely due to the fact that it doesn’t control migration.

As a veteran I can tell you that when bullets are flying I don't care if the guy next to me is red, black, green or brown, whether he worships God as a Christian, Mohammed as a Muslim, or Elvis as an American. We are in this together, whether it's in the trenches or on the battlefield of our democracy.

As another Vietnam veteran living in a red state (I graduated high school in Vancouver, Washington) I'm 100% with you. When the bullets were flying, they didn't ask what your color, your religion, or what your rank was.

I don't question any of those now in my civilian life as a different kind of bullet is firing.

We are going to have to decide whether we wish to be part of a White Rose resistance (they were all executed), or part of a new wave of Valkyries dedicated to bringing democracy back to America.

Best of luck, mate, keep your head down and your helmet on.

As a non-religious person (I'm an agnostic) the anti-Muslim hate is just disgusting. As you said, the naysayers are spreading lies about Mamdani being a Jew-hating terrorist, when all he wants is to be a fair impartial mayor to the country's largest city.

All I can say is “Shame on them” for this latest islamophobic hate campaign! But, given all of the other hate that comes out of the Republican Party and, in this case the Democrats, I am not surprised.

Excellent piece- loved, “And here’s the truth: they are terrified. Terrified because Mamdani’s movement proves something profound—New Yorkers are choosing hope over fear, community over division, and justice over the politics of cruelty. They know that when a Muslim immigrant son from Uganda can win in the heart of America’s largest city, the old playbook of hate begins to crumble.” Spot on!

I read an article that said if Mamdani doesn't win by 6% or more, his critics in the democratic party will claim he couldn't unite the city, that he only won with crossover Republican votes. And Republicans would do that to make everything horrible in the city (so they believe).

I think he will win, but the racist attacks will make the margin much smaller.

These same corporate bought and paid for Democrats will shout at us “Vote Blue No Matter Who [unless their names are Mamdani, Omar, fill in the blank].” It’s time someone confronts Ken Martin about this double standard. Which confirms that, in the eyes of the DNC, only some of us matter.
