The hate and bigotry, is unbelievable -- I cannot understand it.

Below, Betsy L., talked of Mamdani, and his kindness to prisoners at Rikers, .... and nancy montagna, recounted the kindness of a Muslim woman because Nancy was wobbly, going up some steps, and the woman took care that she didn't fall. ..... THAT is how all people should treat all people -- no excuse for anything else. "It shouldn't require so much courage to just be who you are."

There are some really sick and ugly Americans out there. I always knew the US was racist & intolerant of other religions, but until Trump came along I didn't realize how bad it was. Some people are so ignorant & can be really disgusting. They need to accept a bit of science and learn about the evolution of skin coloring & religious views. These "White Christian Nationalists" are the worst.

There is a GoFundMe for Sohail. He has no health insurance and is his family's main economic provider.

Thank you, John, for this Go Fund Me link -- the least we (whites) can do, to let Sohail know that people care and are against hate to immigrants .... hate to anyone.

I abhor prejudice of every kind! 9/11 was the start of Muslim hating. Far too many compare Muslims with terrorists. The terrorist groups that claim Islam as their religion are NOT practicing true Islam. The best example I can provide is Islam strictly forbids murder and considers it one of the gravest sins. The Quran states that killing one innocent person is equivalent to killing all of humanity. Does that in any way sound like what terrorist groups practice?

Then, dangerous don jumped on by stating that President Obama was a Muslim, like it was a bad word. A Muslim is a believer and follower of Islam. Republicans and their loyalist forgot that they portrayed President Obama as racist during his first campaign due to finding recordings of his then church's minister Rev. Wright a Protestant Christian Church. Once President Obama learned about Rev. Wright's racism he left that church immediately. So, the first campaign President Obama was a racist Christian, and his second campaign, 4 years later, he was a Muslim. Republicans in politics think ALL Republicans are ignorant and can't remember the 4 years previous. Even today, the Republicans in the Admin. think the loyalist are stupid enough to believe all of the lies you are daily being spoon fed. Sadly, too many of you do believe.

America started from hatred. First, they left their mother countries because they hated the politics, etc. Then they hated the Indians, believed the lies being spread, stole their land and continued to slaughter Indians. We then hated Irish and German Catholics, Chinese Immigrants, Japanese Americans, African Americans (to date), Jewish Americans, Muslims and Arab Americans (to date), and ending with, at least today, is Hispanic and Latino Immigrants (to date). Why?? Why does America hate?? Is there a group or groups that you hate?? Why?? I know you are basing your hatred on lies that were told to you, that were spread by our government. The first governing bodies lied about Indians, saying they were all murderers, saying they would rape your wife and children, saying they were thieves, portraying them as any type of criminal they could get you to believe. Why? So they could steal Indian's land and you would be OK with your governing body stealing from the Indians. Today, it's lies about Muslims and Islam, and Hispanics and Latinos. Each and every group Americans were taught they should hate were based on lies and accepted by ignorance.

Americans' hatred of Muslims are based on lies...from ignorance.

Stop being ignorant!!!! Learn about those who you may deem as different from you, due to their religious beliefs, the clothes they wear, the language they speak, the color of their skin. Instead of automatically hating them, instead of storing them into one group in your head, LEARN about them!! Stop being IGNORANT!!!!

I will never understand how/why some people end up like this... the hate and ignorance is bottomless.

I'm sorry this happened to Sohail, and I hate the shitty messages you're receiving.

And I thank you for fighting the good fight. Stay safe!

You know, Qasim, it occurs to me that the reactions of the few vocal originators (Not to say they are in any way originAL) you cite is also to do something else - to make Muslims and other 'minorities' hesitate to seek and join with one another. To talk openly to their neighbors. To circulate and socialize freely. Those actions are all things that would reveal people who "don't look like us" to become recognized as a positive part of this great nation.

Power brokers need to create an 'enemy' to direct complacent populations toward, so that they concentrate the thinking side of their brains on that, rather than notice how the few at the top are gaining more and more control over everyday life. Even those of your followers and readers who don't organize, demonstrate, or "get involved" should not hesitate to nod or speak to their neighbors who don't look or believe like them. By acknowledging your neighbor who donot believe the same religion, you are acknowledging that your beliefs do not fear theirs, but welcome

them. Every time you nod or say hello to a person who speaks a different language, has a different religion, or follows different politics, you are saying "My culture does not fear you or believe you are out to 'take over'. We welcome the chance to learn and become a stronger society.

What is the motto? "E Plurbis Unum?"

The fact that they have to use the F-bomb every other word speaks volumes to their lack of education. Not one credible argument among them, just name-calling. Puts a lot of emphasis on the need to improve our educational system.

These violent writings and images being directed towards you are horrific. Thank you for continuing to speak truth. Sohail should never have been attacked. I hope that the man who hurt him goes to prison and doesn't get out because I don't want the attacker to be able to do that again.. This is the first time that I've heard Sohail's name or anything about what happened. Thanks for letting us know what's going on since mainstream media doesn't seem to be doing its job.

That’s disgusting to me. NOBODY has the right to force beliefs on anyone else.

A man was asked if he was Muslim, said yes, and was stabbed fifteen times. That should be national news. Not a footnote. Not a local crime blotter item. This is what years of anti-Muslim propaganda produces when it leaves the screen and picks up a knife. The silence is not neutral either. If the attacker had been Muslim and the victim Christian, every network would be running wall-to-wall panels about terrorism by dinner. Sohail deserved protection, attention, and outrage. American Muslims should not have to bleed loudly enough to be believed.

There are just no words for this kind of hatred. The muslins I've met are the nicest, kindest people. I am sadden that the America I love no longer exists and has been overrun with those who openly hate someone they don't even know. Please stay strong.

That is true. The Muslims I've been acquainted with are some of the finest people I know. And have you noticed? Muslim American journalists & politicians are leading the way in protecting democracy & liberty & fighting tyranny & barbarity in the US & around the world. Qasim is an excellent example of this, but there are many more like him.

Kimberly Kennedy's avatar

That is an important share, Qasim, because most white people have NO IDEA what kind of hatred Muslims endure daily. I sure didn't. I thought if you did the right thing, people would respect that. I don't know that I could face that every day...

This is the lethal reality of the lies constantly yelled by the so-called "Christians" on the right—those who self-righteously brand themselves "conservatives". While they obsessively manufacture narratives of global Muslim violence to feed their bigotry, they remain utterly blind to the actual genocide being perpetrated by Israel. This is not the preservation of any noble virtue; it is the weaponization of faith by political grifters who use the cross to shield their hatred while ignoring the slaughter of the innocent.

As G.K. Chesterton famously observed of such hypocrisy:

'The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult; and left untried.'

God help us .... this makes me sick to my stomach ... has for the YEARS it has been going on. I am sorry you and your Muslim Brothers and Sisters have gone through this and are being treated this way ... certainly NOT Christian behavior - which I am sure many of these yahoos profess to be.
