Protest is a flare. Power is sustained pressure. Tools like this only matter if they’re used with discipline and follow-through. Hope without infrastructure just burns out.

Signed up . Thank you for the information Qasim ✌🏻👏🏻👇🏻

Thank you, joined shared! What a powerful organizing tool and strategy to get our politicians to the table to get ICE out for good!

Signed up for sway yesterday, I heard about it from monte mader. It sounds like the factions that the founders anticipated would evolve, instead we got political parties.

The intent here seems good, but I agree with other commenters saying this sounds like a massive security risk. Sway is a B-corp, not a non-profit, which means they still believe in & retain their right to profit from this venture. And they are venture capitalists, so we already have proof they are highly motivated by profits. Verifying data against voter rolls sounds like a practice with a high probability of ending badly for folks who are part of the voter-roll-verified dataset. Who will protect users if there is a breach by bad actors, including if the government demands to see data? I'm highly skeptical.

@Qasim Rashid, Esq. I’m seeing less and less of your content in my feed. This has been happening for the last two weeks. I now need to search for you which wasn’t the case before.

A company wants verified voter data collected into a singular database and is willing to do it for 'free' while retaining the right to sell and share this data to anyone for as long as it wishes?

With a short 30 'Opt-Out' waiver for any kind of class action lawsuit or non-individual legal recourse?

I'd rather fucking not, and I'm a bit baffled you'd recommend this Qasim.

As a trained and certified lawyer, you should know the dangers and risks of this kind of blatant data collection on sensitive data such as voter identification, especially in a period where voter roll purges are happening weeks to days before an election.

The people running Sway are also associated with people in Silicone Valley like Zuckerberg and Musk, who openly detest democracy.

This is information I was able to gather in a handful of searches and some reading, for anyone willing to do so. I wouldn't trust my data with something like this, even if I did opt out within the 30 day limit.

That is really concerning...

I registered and joined, although after they couldn't automatically register, I realized that I changed my voter registration to confidential for safety reasons—not sure if this means I won't have access to the guide!

I joined the group.

I was surprised, though, to see that Raja Krishnamoorthi is recommended in the primary for Dick Durbin’s Senate seat. Julia Stratton came out loudly for abolishing ICE some weeks ago, and I’ve heard her speak about it in interviews and a recent candidate forum. I’ve only heard Raja speak about reforming ICE. It cannot be reformed Stratton has my vote, for this and many other reasons.

App? What app? Where?

I tried to sign up. I just cannot get in.

I joined and shared on Bsky, but I will have to figure out how to use it to see my reps.

When you verify your voter registration, you can see your ballot.

Joonbug's avatar

I think I verified!

Is this an app? How do I access it? I signed up, but don’t know where to find it to go back.

Claire Shorall's avatar

Log back in at sway.co and you'll see the groups you supported as well as your ballot.

Trying to sign up and how many dang verification codes can one app require? And none arriving to my email box or junk folder.

Claire Shorall's avatar

I shared this below, but we're looking into it. Phone and Google are definitely both up and running, if either of those are available to you.

You can also email me at hello@sway.co for more support.

I often have that same problem--"sent" codes do not arrive! What to do???

Claire Shorall's avatar

Hi. I'm on the Sway team. We're looking into it. In the meantime, can you try with either phone or Google? Both should be working. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.

This sounds just what is needed. It's increasingly obvious (and I heard a prominent judge say this) that there is no White Knight coming, no silver bullet, it's really up to the people.
