To put this into perspective, a friend in Ukraine just texted me that some ministers in their govt. have been responsible for diverting large sums of money to Russia from their energy industry! This is treason and rotten corruption! It’s something our own slimy orange turd is doing, even worse than what the Unholy Eight did.
How disgusting! The Ukranian people have been so brave and patriotic, this is heart breaking. I pray for them all the time, and hope they can escape their long nightmare soon and start rebuilding their beautiful country.
It’s time for our version of morena. Let’s build AMoR (American Movement of Renewal) on a similar foundation…getting rid of billionaires and stopping the extortion of Americans when seeking basic needs like healthcare, food, transportation, shelter, education, safe expression of identity and wellness. We can enshrine basic rights for all people of all backgrounds. We can build back protections for our environment and shared resources. We can reinvigorate scientific discovery and innovation. We can! We must!
I wonder if there was fear that Republicans would get rid of the filibuster if a few Dems didn't "cave." The Republicans were never going to negotiate. We need legislation that will make shutdowns illegal. Both sides end up holding hostages and neither side wins anything. The choice is between two bad outcomes, two sets of suffering people. I do hope that universal healthcare is an eventual result from this no-one-wins tug o'war.
I think it must be instituted soon after we regain our power. More and more people are seeing it as a reality. It's hard to understand why maga's are so afraid to help anyone.
As I have mentioned on other posts, this is going to damage the Democratic Party. Many of us feel betrayed and are extremely angry. I suspect many of the leaders who actually capitulated, will be voted out in upcoming elections by their constituents. We need young energy. Johnson lied as most of us knew he would and retracted his promise to the dems regarding everything he said he would do. I just read this on another thread. Another substack creator says, burn the boats because we can’t go back. We have to fight or lose it all. No going back. Black Out The System. Hope this makes sense.
The eight must go! They could care less for Americans losing health care, Americans starving, Americans losing jobs, and ALL Americans losing our Democracy! I hope they are hanging their heads in shame. Schumer is chicken and lacks the guts to lead!

Is there any point to me calling these senators if I'm not a constituent?
Just FYI, King is Independent. Of the 7 Democrats 2 are retiring - so won't face being primaried - and 2 are not up for reelection next year.
