I am thankful that I live in a place with a strong local media culture. In fact, the reporter who inspired this documentary worked in my area at a local newspaper that was shut down. She now runs really excellent online, hyper-local news newsletter.
I would also recommend that readers concerned about local media support their local community radio. A lot of these stations run on shoestring budgets, but they are truly part of the community and are able to bring clarity to local news.
In my podcast, I just interviewed a historian who has been involved in left-wing activism since the late '60s. She pointed out that the left wing has pretty much ceded ground to the right when it comes to local organizing. That's also part of the media picture. If the only thing local people have is right-wing radio and Facebook, there's going to be no way to cut through the noise.
As far as I'm concerned media takeover occurred already. The corporate and individual money behind traditional news platforms is exactly what it is, paid propaganda to put out information they want you to have, what they don't want you to think about is omitted, it's all skewed and not in a any way to serve the public. The softball questions have been coming a long time.
Every Republican in Congress=traitors to US. Every Police officer who still votes Republican=traitors to US. Every person who still votes Republican=traitors to US.
The Confederates are in the Whitehouse.
SIMPLE. Why don’t Democrats message this?

US has concentration camps where girls are being raped and getting pregnant, people are dying and it is barely noticed. The US is being robbed and people just charge with 25% interest.
Lately I've been thinking that the only reason they can do this is because we keep watching that total nonsense. We need to abandon trad media completely. We need a different internet that we don't allow to get silted up with crap. I don't' think these things are that difficult. It's getting people to think and do things that's the hard part.
It’s more important than ever to support independent media, whether on Substack, YouTube, whatever. I currently subscribe to more than 10 sites, some paid and some unpaid. I don’t always have time to listen to every episode, but I try to support them as much as possible. Where would we be without these independent journalists/analysts? I have deep appreciation for their work. Thank you, Qasim.
This is far scarier and more devastating to true freedom ( freedom from harm) than license plate readers that help catch criminals but that have folks quite up in arms.
