The bottom line: The US takes control of the world's largest oil producer.

The Nobel prize winner is not in power because she was not in govt and could not carry out the coup so easily. The guys under maduro just took him and had US neutralize his local Gestapo and handed him over.

We should have Congress prevent FUTURE wars or similar actions. Make it clear Congress in a bipartisan manner needs to approve US run Coups/Wars.

-No movement on Denmark, Canada, Columbia, Cuba, or any other nation.

Venezuela was an inside job Coup and that is why the guys under maduro are in power. They will make Personal wealth by giving all the oil to Trump and companies

Thank you! I hope Congress will grow a spine, but I am less than confident.

Many of the Republican members of Congtess are backing Trump, according to news I just caught 5 minutes ago. Good grief.

Thank you for addressing the disturbing issue of US takeover in Venezuela- beyond disturbing, actually! It helps also to have an attorney’s perspective on why the illegal actions of the trump regime are, in fact, illegal. There is one thing I have not figured out tho. Hey Qasim! What has Pres. Maduro done, in real life, that he can actually be arrested and/or tried for in the US? ☮️

This is the part everyone keeps pretending not to see. You don’t get to call it “law enforcement” after you bomb a capital, kidnap a head of state, and announce plans to manage another country’s oil. That’s not nuance. That’s empire with a press release.

The most chilling thing here isn’t Maduro or Trump individually. It’s the precedent. Once sovereignty becomes optional, everyone starts sleeping lighter.

Moolenaar on Nicolás Maduro’s Arrest

January 3, 2026

Press Release

“Today may be a new day in Venezuela. Nicolás Maduro was a dictator who contributed to narco-terrorism targeting Americans and subjected his people to unspeakable horrors. He must be held accountable for these atrocities. I am thankful to the men and women in the military for their bravery last night and pray for their continued safety.”

Folks,

It’s coming up on 24 hours since we invaded Venezuela. Tomorrow’s news will open with a brief recap on what happened and that will be the end of the high-water mark for Trump on this. It’s all downhill, all the time, from then on.

It will all be watching haphazard plans made on the fly. A million questions. A million more possible landmines from bad to catastrophic.

There is no way this regime aces what prior administrations with smart and component people have never been able to do.

Make Venezuela Great Again is going to be an utter and complete failure.

Oh, and BTW, Trump’s rape buddy Jeffry Epstein isn’t going anywhere.

And if you want to view that sick scandal only through a political lens, that’s just fine. The longer it lasts, the worse the cover-up and its defense gets, and the closer we get to November, the more damage it does.

What nobody seems to be addressing is where does the US get the funds to pay for all this oversight and policing? Military spending is already on overdrive and way over budget, where does the extra money come from? Your debt is already at an all-time high and more borrowing is the only way to float this particular Titanic.

The Pentagon hasn't passed an audit in years. There's always money for war.

What a hot shit mess. With this and the rest of the Trump administration's illegal acts, the floodgates are open. Maduro is a major POS, but the US didn't have Congress or NATO to okay this. Now, at this point... who or what country will sneak in and abduct Trump and Melania?

Rebel Nun's avatar

No country, or organization of countries, has the right to do this to a sovereign nation, even if some individuals think their leader is a POS, and many of us are in disagreement with that judgment.

M. F. Hopkins's avatar

My comment wasn't sayings it's okay; I was showing how careless and stupid it is.

Rebel Nun's avatar

I understand; thank you. I was reacting to your (MSM?) evaluation of Maduro.
