If there aren’t any people on the planet we wouldn’t have this problem. Nature would carry on without us. We don’t matter in the scheme of things, we just like to flatter ourselves and think that we do. Money has always been a source of power and control because so many people are willing to sell themselves for it.

"Understand this fact—once old-growth forests are cut down, they do not return in our lifetimes. The damage is effectively permanent."

And the fact that a deforested Earth cannot sustain life. @Amy Harrison, you got it right.

I detest Trump for this. And Congress. And any other asshat who facilitated this travesty.

Someone posted a video of a 200 year old tree getting prepared to be cut down for a totally unnecessary border wall. I think it’s too late for that tree, but I think further construction has been halted as it goes to court. I hope this litigation is slow-walked until we can stop it and all this destruction.

Just contributed I am beyond upset about all of this. Thank you for putting everything they have recenrly done to our lands in one notice. Makes for a terrible but necessary read.

One of the greatest threats to climate is deforestation or cutting of forested areas and destruction of grasslands. This was recognized over 20 years ago when the USA Congress set aside large tracts of forest and other wild zones in the Roadless Area and established the Roadless Rule that these lands would not be sold or timber cut or wetlands developed or destroyed. Trump wants to sell these lands to private owners. This will harm the Planet and our economy as much of this land will be used as collateral for US Guaranteed Loans, through Banks and lending institutions and falsely used as collateral for other loans and projects. Some forest lands will be cut and no protections for sreams and rivers, with forest cuts that will destroy watershed that now provides water to our cities. YOU can make a PUBLIC Comment to Stop the sales by registering NO to violation of the "Roadless Rule". Go to this website https://www.fs.usda.gov/managing-land/planning/roadless to comment to the USDA in the next 30 days. Over 60,000 objections occured last year when the public was asked to comment. Let's make it 1million NOs! Do NOT sell Roadless Rule lands for speculation and destruction.

Earthjustice is a worthwhile organization. Give whatever you can to support their work.

Are we going to survive this term. He keeps wrecking everything and I presume this is all part of Project 2025!

A small correction: it's the permit for the Line 5 project pipeline, which they wanted to put under the Strait of Mackinaw to carry half a million barrels of oil a day.

I have contributed to Earthjustice for many years. They are an excellent organization and get important results. For example, in the last few days their representation of native American groups before the Michigan Supreme Court resulted in the court rescinding the permit to construct the underwater pipeline for the Keystone XL project.
