Making sense of the confusing budget debate, where it stands right now, and what YOU can do NOW to help protect Medicaid for up to 80 million Americans
Thank you QR for the info. They are coming for everything. This is all so wrong. But maybe it had to happen to break the grip of the cult. The people that went against their own well being have realized they may regret their past support. Better late than never I suppose. But, it helps no one immediately.
I don’t disagree that this is about lowering costs so taxes for the wealthy can continue to be reduced; but it is so much more, and I wish journalists and pundits and Qasim would address the other and equally dangerous ploy. That is that if they succeed in this sleight of hand they are greasing the wheels for private equity to take over what’s left of the “carcass” that America is becoming. They have scooped up hospitals, housing, education, transportation, etc. all to the detriment of the workers, customers, students and patients. They are about to do it to the USPS. And now with this bill Medicaid; to be followed by Medicare and Social Security. Read up on private equity! Mother Jones, years ago, devoted a whole issue to the enterprise which ruins businesses and communities while enriching the board members and CEOs. Many others have been writing about private equity. So, yes, they say this is about taxes…..but it is so much more. Let’s broaden the perspective. They see America as a business that has only one goal: profit. A government does not exist to profit; it exists to serve its people, who have been paying taxes to fund the agencies that work for them! America is not a corporation and we must stop them from running it as though it is.
I don’t think you are ignoring it, but it’s just that I think it should be linked directly with this budget bill in real time. We have to help people to see the whole picture; the “puzzle” once it will be complete instead of focusing all attention on one piece at a time. Sorry I came across that way.
As one town hall person spoke out, he said, you don’t give a fuck about us. I really believe they want us off of the rolls so they don’t have to fund us. What makes me angry, those are our tax dollars that make this country work. We pay for this. They want to take it away. That’s what dictators do.
That’s one grift. Another is schools. The privatization efforts are a big grift, creating opportunity for Trump-approved oligarchs to sweep in and buy these brand new franchises. Hope we can save Medicaid for all. I own a pediatric clinic with OT, PT and ST services for pediatric clients on Medicaid. Even though many of the parents voted for MAGA and Trump, I hope they don’t lose their Medicaid. Same with school therapy services.

Can we save Medicaid with Schumer as minority leader? Democrats need to step up on this.

It's all about hoarding more wealth for them. The world is not enough. It's a sickness.
Now is not the time to save Medicaid, it time to demand health care for all. Cut the middle man from our health care, period.

We need to figure out a way to get them to stop voting against their own interests. Hopefully this can be a wake up call.
