Thank you, Sir, for a clear and succinct summary of the GOOD NEWS. Now, because I am one of millions of New York State residents, with Schumer around our neck like an albatross, what in the world do we do about him? I stand with everyone trapped in his 7th circle of hell while he remains Senate majority leader. Enough is enough. NOT to take away the great joy of the moment. Just interjecting my great concern.
I have honestly felt physically ill since Trump got elected two years ago and I feel like a weight has been lifted off me. I feel so much better today emotionally and physically and I believe now we have a chance to get our democracy back the way it should be! And Abdul El-Sayed is going to be a fantastic Senator! I don’t think that fascism is gone yet, but at least we have able to kind of maybe hold it down a little bit. But we’ve got still a big fight ahead of us!! But we can do it now!!
My household is in a state of exhausted relief. Thank you for persevering through the campaign season. We need more people who are steady at the tiller like you are.
Campaigning on actual issues worked! Now that we hold Congress we have to maintain focus on those issues. As Jason Crow said in an address last night, we can't go back to what once was. It's time to rebuild better..
Let's begin with new leadership. Centrism failed us! Schumer and Jeffries have to go. Our Congress absolutely can do more than one thing at a time, so there's no reason why we can't hold investigations while ending the wars and corruption, AND while passing honest enforceable laws. All it takes is an engaged public. We've been enabled, so lets get to work!
happily exhausted today... so glad i took the day off from work ahead of time for something completely unrelated, but, obviously, the universe was guiding my decision-making skills 🌀🖤🍸
Also, I can’t overemphasize the importance of STANDING UP CANDIDATES IN EVERY RACE. The NC General Assembly underwent a *seismic* change last night — taking a heavy majority in the state House and a *supermajority* in the state senate down to a 26-24 senate majority and FLIPPING the House to a Dem majority of 70-49 with 1 Independent (another first in a state where Independents are ~40% of the electorate). That’s 2 seats short of a supermajority. So when I say “seismic”, that’s the only word that captures it. That’s putting unified government within reach in 2028, since it allows for voters to elect a blue majority on the state supreme court and finish the job of turning over the legislature.
But none of this would have been possible if not for the work of NCDP chair Anderson Clayton, who recruited candidates for all 170 legislative districts. She didn’t win all of them, but what she DID do was give a lot of people who were angry at the status quo a CHOICE to vote for something better. And how many of those flipped seats do you figure came about simply because the option was there, where it hadn’t been before?
And I can’t get over Texas. The only Republican left in statewide office in Texas now is Ted Cruz. As AmandaNelson put it this morning, “Texas ain’t purple — it is Bluebonnet blue.”
Schumer AND Jeffries and their “sternly worded letters” with them.
I can’t improve on how Amanda Litman put it some time ago:
“The leaders that got us here will not get us where we need to go. We need better Democratic candidates — and that means younger, more diverse, more representative leaders — because they are the ones who will actually reflect the communities they serve.” ~ Amanda Litman”
Except maybe to add “Lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!”
I'm not sure but let's all pressure our senators to put in someone else. Same with Jeffries in the house. Genocide deniers must not be rewarded in this country anymore
Excellent thorough summing up, thank you Qasim! Watching it all from Europe into the early morning, my eyes also teared up. Thank you so much to the American people and their indomittable spirit when it comes to taking a stand for freedom and fairness, unlike their rulers, thank you, thank you, thank you! You restored my hope and my faith in human beings. A triumph of the best of American character against the worst of American despicable excesses, a starting point in becoming, I hope and pray, a truly great country. Such a strong sense that we were witnessing a significan setback to the Culture War and a long-overdue proud empowering of all non-WASP Americans. Abdul's speech, and his powerful pride in being vindicated by the people, without compromises, was deeply touching. My biggest hope is that this will spill over to Europe, inspiring an often apathetic and disorganised bottom to joyfully unite in order to defeat the top, instead of becoming preys of the far-right's racism, dividedness and easy "promised" supposedly populist fixes. "Power to the people" has just received an amazing boost.
Thank you Qasim for all your knowledge, analysis, and wisdom over these past months! As a retired RN, human rights, truth and respect are my foundation. Thank you for this community you have built and for leading by example! I am proud to stand up, support your work and this community!!
Your work contributed to this Qasim. Grateful for you, and happy I chose to donate to your efforts.

Excellent summary Qasim, thank you!

Yes! We do not want “more of the same!” Schumer must go! And I think there must be a better choice than Jeffries, too.
Once I heard that Jeffries met off the record with Jared Kushner to discuss "future plans', I knew he'd sold out. That isn't leadership.
That’s exactly how I felt. And he didn’t keep the caucus together on some really important votes, either.
I stayed up until 0300 when NBC finally declared for Dr. Abdul El Sayed. It was another hour before I could get to sleep.
I watched and saw you on Waj's LIVE of the event!! I was sooooo happy - THIS Michigander finally went to sleep with a smile on my face!

So glad I subscribe with payment to you! I am in alignment with your views all the time because you make sense. Thank you.
Is there a real chance Schumer will be ousted? I hope so.

Shumer needs to go, he’s admitted his sole purpose is to keep Israel funded. Hakim Jeffries needs to go too, no more laying down and playing dead.
