You two are each amazing in your own right but together you bring hope and joy in these dangerous times. I love your prescriptions for making change and moving the Party unabashedly toward FDR, like Mandani is trying to do. I also love your emphasis on self care during the process of making big changes. MY prescription would be to encourage folks to look in the mirror and find shame in one’s OWN actions which may be financially supporting the mess this country is in! Specifically, how many of us who are fortunate enough to have IRA’s, pensions, or even stocks, are invested in that very military/industrial complex that you speak of? And how many of us care to find out!??? This is what Citizens United meant when it said that corporations ARE people. I’ve never agreed with that dastardly opinion but we could bring that cancer to its knees by changing our portfolios, or at least by calling or writing our pension boards, or showing up at their meetings. WE COULD do that. It took me far too long, but I finally have done all of the above (short of showing up at my CalStrs meetings, which is next) and it feels good.

30-35% of the country is beyond reach, unless Fox News is somehow dismantled. If Trump tells them they're winning, they'll believe him even if they are starving, thirsty, and suffering from diabetes, gout, skin rash, toenail fungus, etc. Trump and his regime will demand their fealty to his demented project. Not only can they not discern truth from lies, they no longer care about right versus wrong. This is how personality cults work.

I talked to somebody today and asked them what health insurance they were on. They told me Ambetter (Medicaid Program). This person needs some procedures done, I told them, get it done now, you’re going to lose your coverage. Told me, no I won’t! I have Ambetter. I told them, that’s a Medicaid program. They don’t even realize these programs are Medicaid! The stupidity is amazing.

Folks, the problem with the Democrats is they take money from the same sources as the Republicans. Why isn’t anyone pointing this out ? It causes conflict of interest! That is why they are such limp dicks and not visible, and not aggressive !

Yes. I've been writing about this for 25 years.

"But let’s not forget that the creation of a class of unaccountable and power-addled Billionaires was a bipartisan project that required nearly half a century to bring to fruition. It began with Ronald Reagan, but was advanced by Democrats like Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, just to name a few."

When is it going to settle in the Republicans don’t care about you they are in the pockets of the billionaires and they just are above the cruelty and don’t feel it. The billionaires funded congress and the Supreme Court is complicit.

As a someone who used to resent being a millennial, I will live & die on the hill that we are the most resilient among us & stand the best chance at getting us out of this mess. As the first generation in US history to do worse than the one before us, we learned early that the American dream & the fallacy that the government is here to do us any favors is a big beautiful lie. We’re now old enough to be taken seriously as adults at the table, but young & hopeful enough to be able to envision a creative way out of this hellscape with little to no means - read: hello recession, my old friend.

As a health care provider in a far right leaning community, I want to tell you that seeing patients yesterday was the most bizarre experience I've ever had in 35 years of practice.

EVERYONE acting happy and upbeat because they “won.” Completely out of touch with themselves and the world around them and what's going on.

Not even the tiniest glimmer of realization about what the fallout of this is going to be--for individual human beings, as well as this country as a whole.

I seriously went to the grocery after to buy alcohol and get drunk. Never been drunk in my life.

Thankfully settled for chocolate instead.

I guess it helped a little while my heart broke and I cried and cried.

I had an appointment yesterday. They do a depression screening every time. Usually I mark zero. This time I marked ones in four areas and labeled it due to politics. The medical assistant commented that she would have to mark 3s. I said I wanted to mark 5s but didn't want whatever consequence that might cause.

Boy, do I get that.

There's such a stigma attached to depression that I'm betting lots of folks don't feel comfortable being honest about how (bad) they feel.

Getting out of my head and in the present moment helps me with it.

Also allowing instead of denying the feelings.

Maybe we can start a “Surviving and Thriving under Authoritarian Rule” Support Groups in our areas.

Win-win-- helps self and others!!

i’m so proud of you for crying instead of numbing it out which would have been the easy thing to do. we need to collectively feel these feelings and remember that we are not alone ❤️ thank you for everything you do

I sooo appreciate your acknowledgement.

We are all, I am sure, barely hanging on by the tiniest bit of fingertips. This morning I had to stop reading the messages of don't give up+ onward!

I know they are well meant, and I will go back and enjoy them at another time.

But right now I need to rage and grieve.

It's so important for us to have courage for that too-- and after, we will be more whole and ready to give our energy to the fight.

Chocolate is my drug of choice when dealing with an intolerable situation too. It’s tastier than alcohol, cheers me up, and doesn’t cause the destruction of brain cells.

Thank you for doing what you do. It's the 4th of July and I'm just unsure how I feel about this holiday. It's cathartic to listen to intelligent Americans who grasp the full scope of what is happening and what has been done and what is coming. I've said for years regarding Trump, EVERYONE will eventually be impacted and come to regret. It's hard to watch this in real time. Thank you for your courage to podcast.

After listening to this I am reminded of how much educated, intelligent immigrants have brought to our country. Thank you!! My takeaways: watch Avengers #1 ;), and CHOOSE ANGER, NOT DESPAIR!! I am just an old white lady, but love my fellow Americans, especially the immigrants.
