Thank you for this interesting story, which I'll bet surprised most of your readers. Yes, save this story, before trump eliminates it from our history.

Important to note that the Union, which was supposedly fighting to end slavery, was rounding up and ENSLAVING escaped enslaved people. Another thing we really have to address.

This is a truly AMERICAN story and one that "they" are trying to erase to MAWA. No. We will not let that happen and thank you for leading the charge, Qasim. Rest in Power, Private Kahn. And thank you.

This is so inspiring, and please write your book about Mohammad so everyone can know this true hero before they try to wipe him out of existence. Thank you.

Thank you. I also want to share the history of another Khan. Badshah Khan. I pray to him sometimes. Read 'Nonviolent Soldier of Islam Badshah Khan, A Man to Match His Mountains'. By Eknath Easwaran to see why.

Please write this book but if you could include the other soldiers you mentioned in the story as well. Also how incredible would it be if you could trace their heritage that (hopefully)they all stayed here were able to live and thrive here. However I know where we live. That's why it's so important to know. I wonder if the Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr team from finding your roots team could help? Maybe worth asking?

Muslims were also brought over as slaves before America was founded, and helped build America. This idea that Muslims were not part of America's founding is erronious at best, intentional disinformation at worst. A terrific resource is "Jefferson's Quran, Islam and the Founders" by Denise A. Spellberg.

Yes up to 30% of Africans enslaved and trafficked here were Muslim, who were subsequently forced to convert to Christianity and denied the ability to teach their own children how to read, right, or pray in Arabic. A genocide by definition.
