I subscribed to Ground News months before the election and even bought a gift subscription for my MAGA sister. While I have found it a very useful tool for reviewing how different media sources report the same story, it does not appear to have had any positive influence on my sister. Sadly, those in his cult seem to actively seek out stories that confirm their biases.

I am planning to subscribe, but what do you think of AllSides? Is it accurate in reporting bias?

I agree I’m disappointed in legacy media. Which though trying too hard to be neutral at least gave us basic information as to what the administration was saying. And ground news is one solution. But what about subscribing to a wire service like Reuters or AP?

I also use an app called Boring News that uses AI to “remove the drama from news articles” (it’s the only good use of AI)

Grounded News relies on AI, which is extremely faulty.

People can use their critical thinking skills and READ articles from AP, The Guardian, and Al-Jazeera. Actual journalism.

I just subscribed. I will check it out and let you know what I think of it after some time. The corporate media does not deserve one more nickel from me.

Thank you, and agreed. Corporate media knows its failed us in capitulating to Trump, so its especially wild watching Trump also turn on them.

The New Republic. I don’t watch TV. I personally think it’s a brainwashing machine. Salon and so many others need funding because they are independent sources of information . You will learn things that won’t find anywhere else.

I like this, Qasim. I've been thinking a lot lately about how at least part of the way to fight ascendant oligarchy is with how we as consumers allocate money and attention. Money talks in America, after all. If you don't like Musk's bureaucratic shenanigans, delete your Twitter and forgo that Tesla. If you don't like that Bezos purchased the Post, get rid of your Prime account. So on and so forth. Consumers alone can't do it, but if enough of us change our spending and media consumption behaviors, it'll start to signal market opportunities to competitors and may give billionaires enough pause to give the rest of us more room to maneuver.
