Re. Yahweh/Allah, you probably know that devout Jews, when confronted in scripture with Yodh Heth Vav Heth (the holy name of God), will read Adonai (Lord) or Elohim (God[s]) to avoid blaspheming inadvertently. The second of these, Elohim, seems to me an obvious cognate of Allah
