Thank you, Qasim, for your professional public interest work and for this forum.

This forum is a remarkable expression of our democratic rule of law aspirations. Here we meet each other, though indirectly, and share information that each of us must have in public and for each other to better understand each other with.

Grateful for your trust and support, Bob.

I want to resubscribe but can’t find an address to send a personal check to you. Do not use FB for money transfers.

Do not use FB for anything. It is a cesspool, and who wants to put another cent into Zuckerberg’s billionaire pockets.

Dear Mr. Rashid: Here is a thought on the immigration issue for your consideration. People who are in the US illegally, but have committed no other major crimes, should be entitled to apply for permanent residency, contingent upon public service:

- serve in the US military for at least 1 year, upon which they receive permanent resident rights unless dishonorably discharged or convicted of a crime while in service; OR

- serve in the military reserves for 4 years, as above OR

- do public service for at least 100 hours/year for 4 years, where public service is defined by the local government in their place of residence, and can include anything from picking up trash to helping with events to legal services to... Events held by religious organizations should be allowed as long as the events serve anyone regardless of their beliefs and are not used for proselytizing.

And no need to acknowledge the origin of the suggestion if you wish to pursue this.

Wasn't there a time when we did grant citizenship when people served in the military?

You’re one of the few substacks that allows anyone, paid & free subscribers alike, to comment on your posts. That’s remarkable & an enormous gift. I’m anxiously awaiting a higher paying job so I can upgrade, but in the meantime please know how much I appreciate the critical work you are doing & contributing to this moment’s conversation. Much love & gratitude ✊🏼🤍

Honored to have your support, Nicole. Please never feel any pressure to become a paid subscriber. Know that my writing will never have a paywall. Grateful to you for reading and sharing!

I never feel pressure from you, and I’m so grateful to the already paid subscribers who help out the rest of us who aren’t able to be (yet). I so value being able to support independent journalists who are doing the good work to keep us informed, and your truth-telling goes above & beyond. Thank you so much for your commitment to bringing awareness to the real issues of this moment, grateful to you 🙏🏼

Congratulations Qasim! I have followed you for quite some time, from your video inserts on Facebook, to your e-mailed words of wisdom, hope and intellect. If it were ever possible - Qasim For President. Not saying you would want the position, but you would make an excellent President. You are highly valued!

You're much too kind, Linda. Thank you.

One of the few, very few, places where I’m not hassled for payment to read your articles, and that means a lot to financially stricken people like myself, may the Almighty bless you for all the good work you do!

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

We will never have a paywall. Ever. Grateful for your trust ❤️✊🏽

Imagine this, right after posting my comment, I opened another Substack post and started reading a very interesting commentary, but lo and behold after three paragraphs the commentary faded and the usual “for paying subscribers only” appeared! I’m beginning to unsubscribe from those Substacks in pure sadness.

Hanief, as I’m basically retired and living on a nonexistent pension, I have to agree with you that hitting those paywalls is depressing. I get that the authors would like to earn a living, but the assumption that people not swimming in wealth have absolutely nothing to offer is demoralizing. But Qasim doesn’t do that! And not only that, his content has always impressed me: logical reasoning, a solid sense of ethics, and the ability to zing a hater effectively with dry humor.

Qasim Rashid, Esq.'s avatar

Yeah that's a salty feeling. One I don't like, and one I don't want to impose on others.

#68? Someone's not paying attention. I would have said probably top five.

You, and Mark Mansour, and Trygve, and Lucas, and maybe a couple of others are as good as it gets.
