Thank you for putting the situation into such clear terms. According to recent reporting, Pam Bondi is just the face of the DOJ, while Stephen Miller and cohorts are actually running the Department. Miller does not have a law degree or license. His views are based on blind racism and hate, not the law. Having Miller speak for the Trump Administration on legal matters is dangerous. The US needs to recognize the genocide in Gaza because of what it is-a genocide. We should not have to see the risks to us in order to advocate for the rights of others no matter where they live. I remember meeting a man in Austalia when we visited family there about 20 years ago. Where we were at the time was not far from East Timor. The man indicated that until well known people like as I recall the actor Richard Gere talked about the issue in the American press, Americans were not concerned or aware of the situation perpetrated by Indonesia. Australia knew but the world needed to come on board. The world knows about Gaza and it is past time that we stop funding this massacre and act in the morally right manner.

When we made it acceptable for Israel to do these things we opened up the ability for any nation to do so. It used to be we could count on the media to inform us of what is happening, now we cannot

Over here in Canada, some of us are getting organized for more than just peaceful protests. Would the Canadian Armed Forces supplemented with a civilian defense force stand a chance against the United States of America? Of course not. But how about the Divided States of America? You betcha.

Further complicating things for an invading force that needs to continuously watch their flank, the US has made many enemies and getting an infusion of weapons and experience from countries that despise the US would not be a difficult endeavor.

If the situation gets to what Qasim describes above (and well before it), then of course peaceful resistance will not be the answer.

I just reposted a note on children being held in a border facility that are ill, without care, sleeping on concrete floors, no way to clean their hands, toilets in the room with up to 50 children of all ages. Toddlers with no one to care for them. In America. Concentration camps are a reality now. We have to keep putting this out there. I talked with a friend today who didn't know that the bill they want to pass will cut Medicaid. She said the Republicans said they wouldn't cut Medicare or Medicaid, and I had to tell her that wasn't true. People don't know what is happening. Substack journalists seem to be the only ones who report truth and facts.

“ it is time to stand up and demand absolute justice, for Palestinians, for Americans, and for all people globally” and vote that way, no more lesser of two evils, replace all of Congress, and 80% of state legislators and school board members.

From the top to the bottom of this article I was thinking that this is not hypothetical or so hard to imagine for us anymore.

I had the great honor of getting to hear the living legend, Dr. Angela Davis, speak today at a mental health conference called the Redefining Crazy Conference. She said many incredible things, but what really stuck with me was what she termed The Legacy of Struggle - essentially that it is our responsibility to keep fighting & advocating for the many victims of injustices everywhere, not just for ourselves in the present, but in solidarity & gratitude to those who fought before us and for those who have yet to be born into the world we’ll leave behind. She went on to remind us that the natural course of history is 3 steps forward & 4 steps back, and thus our only choice is to keep doing the same work that has already been done, over & over for as long as is necessary, in service of progress and not letting regressives win. Onward ✊🏼❤️‍🔥

I am doing my best to struggle for the continuance of Pacifica Radio, the only remaining listener-sponsored independent terrestrial radio network, but I am also getting my passport renewed, just in case.

Very deep dive into a possible future for America. We always think it won’t happen here but that’s what the Germans and Russians thought during and after WWII. The Elite class run and rule in America like they do everywhere else.

The people of this country need to wake up. The GOP no longer represents the citizens, the GOP represents the Oligarchs, the billionaires, and the trump crime family. The GOP does NOT represent me, an almost 75 year old woman living on a little more than $30,000 a year. GOP politicians in Washington D.C. live on more than double that amount. GOP perks will pop your eyes right out of your head.

GOP is absolutely full on fascist, but Democrats are sadly not fighting for justice the way they need to fight either. It's why Dems have an even lower approval rating than the GOP right now.

I agree. It is one of the best arguments for term limits, with a two-term limit, and then you go home, no lobbying, nothing - you are a private citizen. Democrats have been gutless for a long time, and Ken Martin, the chair of the democratic party, will not change it. I believe that Ken Martin is responsible for Minnesota becoming a rural red and metro blue state.

When you hurt others you hurt yourself and society. Imagine the money spent on war being used to build and protect humanity. Talking about human rights and freedom is vital. Let’s imagine better and fight to make society better and safer for all. We have nothing to lose but our chains.

Qasim - Powerful piece. You are refreshing voice of clarity and truth in the midst of this confusing world. I applaud your honesty, integrity, courage and bravery. I’ve been following your work for about a year and you have never failed to be steadfast and bold in your mission towards justice. Grateful for you and the many others who are doing the hard work of pushing society closer to truth and justice. - Natasha Kaur 🙏

There are moments, as a political and environmental activist that I can say “I love you”. This is one of them. If one of US is poor, is discriminated against, is not free, is starving, is bombed—all of US are included. The invisible bond that holds humanity together is rarely recognized in today’s world and you see it. Only United can we be free. Only then can we become great.
