Thank you. I am as angry as you are. And it is right to feel this way,

Thank you for this beautiful piece, more powerful because of its factual content and emotional yet assertive restraint!! You along with others who speak truth to power in the public forum are heralding in a new age of morality, integrity and accountability in our government. Long time coming and even sweeter and relieving because of all the disgusting corruption and coverups gone before!!!

Exceptional essay. I’ll not forgive or forget the complacency of our government and the feckless zombie stance on “never ending support of Isr”.

I'm mystified every day how we can just stand by and ignore the atrocities. And then I remember: racism is a helluva drug. So dehumanizing. I'm ashamed.

Thank you for always having such powerful and factual words.

I am so disgusted that all these people "in power" just don't care, as long as the money keeps rolling in.

In the Seventies when six million people died in the Cambodian genocide, I recall thinking that perhaps Jews would see that they were not the only people to have suffered mass murder, but it seems not to have registered that way. At least in New York, there are many Jews who understand what Israel is doing under Netanyahu's leadership is genocide, but it's a tough sell, and many families are divided. We must find ways to foster compassion across racial and ethnic lines and the suffering that wanton killing brings to people regardless of their perceived status.

Most Jewish people I know absolutely see this injustice and condemn it without reservation. It's the right wing christian nationalists fused with militant zionism that's funded this genocide.

Many people equate criticism of the Israeli government with antisemitism, and those people refuse to see the horrific consequences of this and will also never admit they were part of the problem.

Great article. These are unbelievable times. There are monsters among us. That the Congress still supports that thug Netanyahu by sending bombs and money is disgraceful, undefensible and I hope you are right that their behaviors haunt and bedevil them.

Sociopaths care only for reward and punishment. As long as they face no personal or professional consequences, the politicians could not care less.

It is so sad, to know that two or three days after the large cruel deadly attack of hamas on Israeli civilians, hamas' offer to free immediately all Israeli hostages on the condition that no Israeli soldiers would be deployed in the Gaza Strip has been rejected by the Israeli government. After the hostages had been returned, the Israeli government could and should have held the leadership of hamas accountable for the atrocities. Then the government could have demanded extradition of this leadership and those who had carried out the massacre to the International Criminal Court to stand trial and be punished according to international law. At the same time the Israeli government, together with the Palestinian Authority and the political wing of Hamas, could have asked the International Court of Justice for a proposal on how both peoples could break the current deadlock in a way that does as much justice as possible to both nations, based on the facts that the West Bank of the Jordan River according to international law has been illegally occupied by Israel since 1967 and that nearly one million Israeli settlers have settled there in violation of UN resolutions.

That's how a world ruled by international law could work. It would have spared so many lost lives and so many losses suffered by the survivors of this asymmetric war between these nations!

Thank you Qasin for your bold brave honesty. Thank God. Thank Allah. For those brave enough to speak out and act against Evil. Pure Evil. And as long as even one human being thinks they are better than another, this Evil will continue. Thank you Allah for your servant Qasin. Truth cannot be hidden.

Peace,

The Rev Julia Hart

Wow! Powerfully stated. Because you prefaced the post with an apology for being angry as you wrote it, I was expecting an emotional diatribe, which would have still been valid. Instead, you presented nothing but cold, hard facts, and questions that so many of us have. The opening and closing quote is cutting and sadly accurate, and everything between those words is simply factual.

I feel the same! Funding GENOCIDE is Biden's legacy.

I am sickened by this timeline that we live in and the atrocities that are committed daily. This was a truly gripping essay, Qasim, but you give these people too much credit that they will one day regret their lack of action against this genocide. This won’t bother them at all, or they will have totally rewritten their history to put themselves on the side of righteousness. As Eisenhower commanded, let’s preserve the evidence.

Fair...I suppose I'm an optimist but I think you're right.

The Jewish people have always said that we must never forget the Holocaust, but now we have the Prime Minister of Israel behaving like Hitler. This is totally unacceptable! In the past, we have been able to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict between the Arabs and the Israelis, but a good part of that has to do with who has been sitting in The Oval Office. Now we have The Fapweasel (Trump) there, and he is a war monger. Netanyahu is practically egging him on, so we will never have peace treaty as long as these two are running the show. They have to be stopped before the whole Middle East becomes a war zone.

I have unfortunately finally figured out how people can look at this, hear about this, be faced over and over again with the truth of the sickening, twisted reality, and ignore it, or deny it. Here, in the United states, fully at least one third of Americans support the current regime, and the comments one sees on social media or hears on podcasts or on "talk shows," demonstrate how lacking in empathy too many of us are. These people cannot be moved by people being shot, deported, kidnapped on their streets; they certainly do not have the mental and sentimental wherewithal to think of bodies and lives and futures beyond the artificial borders human beings have constructed to create yet another reason to "other" people. Borders now are political parties, what media you read/listen to; whether or not you trust science; whether or not you think every human being deserves to be treated the way you expect to be treated. I am no longer surprised. I have now gone beyond disappointed, beyond furious. There is no word yet created for what I feel and think of us lately. I despise my inability, my utter helplessness, to stop the suffering and the cruelty. Speaking out and voting seem so pitiful in comparison to what is needed to stop the madness.
