Qasim, I suggest you follow @JessPiper and her View From Rural Missouri Substack. She's been putting in the work for a long time and her voice needs to be shared widely.
As a Missouri voter, this is so encouraging. Missouri used to be the last classic bellwether of which way the winds were blowing. Now, having lived under a republican supermajority for decades, I am hopeful for the first time in years that the winds of change are blowing once again. Thanks for sharing
When politicians start carving up maps like theyβre slicing a birthday cake they didnβt bake, the people will eventually take the knife away.
The GOP keeps throwing lawsuits, scare texts, and bad ballot language hoping something sticks. All it really does is broadcast their fear. Nothing terrifies an aspiring autocrat like voters who can read.
And Missourians can clearly read the room. Every dirty trick just adds another signature. Every attempt to tighten control makes more voters slip through their fingers.
Blessed be the Show-Me State for showing the country what democracy looks like when ordinary people decide theyβre done being treated like props.

Three cheers for Missouri! Good luck & God bless you all! The fight must continue!

Missouri out here proving a simple truth.

I know you're likely aware of what happened in Ohio with our People Not Politicians citizen initiative -- the odious Secretary of State, Frank LaRose, changed the ballot language, confusing voters. https://kettering.org/ohios-issue-1-a-case-study-in-ballot-manipulation/
Hope MO has better luck but I'm guessing similar tactics will be on display there as well.
Interesting. Same trick (changing the wording) was attempted here (couple of years ago, different issue). Didn't work βΊ.
Thanks so much for getting what's REALLY going on in Missouri out. We need the good news.
Absolutely need to celebrate the movements for justice.
It would be great to enable auto read on this. I struggle especially in the morning with being able to read screens. Iβd love to hear this one.
I don't actually know if Substack has that feature embedded but that's a great idea. I'll be sure to share it with folks I know at Substack.
I call it my substack radio. I love it!
Thank you for making this available.
I was raised in Missouri and even though I havenβt lived there for 40+ years, I keep up on it and keep praying for a turnaround there.
