I'll be honest with you that I'm not always quick to join groups in general because of some of the dynamics you mentioned. Sometimes groups veer off of the original purpose in the first place. It's really important to keep perspective and keep the head above water and not get sucked into the hate on any side. This will solve nothing and will only enable further divisiveness.
I find it incredible that Kamala Harris endorsed Dr. Abdul El-Sayed on his terms. I think it's great he accepted the endorsement. I do not at all align with attacks coming from the left on this, despite the fact that I strongly support Democratic Socialist / leftist politics. He is not compromising his platform and values. At this point he's fought so hard on an honest campaign intended to improve the quality of life for all in this country, and to stop the US and Netanyahu's genocide and wars abroad, I don't think he's going to back down on them now. Dr. Abdul is one of the only politicians that is successfully uniting Democrats without compromising his platform and values. Clearly what he is doing is working. He's getting powerful and influential people behind him. People are angry but should put their anger to constructive action, as Dr. Abdul is doing!
And I'm shaking my head at the fact that Dr. Abdul and his wife cannot even sit down to a meal at the Waffle House without getting attacked. They cannot get a break for one second from the hate. We have a rapist and pedophile in the White House, and yet he is allowed to be President and gets away with attacks on Dr. Abdul and his wife just for existing as Muslims and eating a meal. I can't really wrap my head around this cacophony, it's a horrible disjoint. We need to get Trump out of office right now, and prosecute him for all of his crimes.
And finally, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that any candidates can refuse debates. I think they should be disqualified if they refuse or pull a no-show. I don't have any hard data on this, but in my observations, it seems that more conservative white males are the ones who want to skip debates, particularly when it comes to facing intelligent people who come from marginalized communities. Mike Rogers must be required to stand up. I am so sick of politicians allowed to campaign when they aren't even required to articulate or explain their platform and ideas in a debate. Clearly he knows he can't hold a candle to Dr. Abdul's credentials, platform and plans to improve the economy for ALL people. He cannot win based on his "ideas" (or fake "musculature"), so he resorts to the racist, rich MAGA party lines and corporate money, and that is not an acceptable campaign on any level. Now make Mike Rogers SHOW it to millions of Americans. If he has nothing to say and nothing good to offer the American people, require him to expose it in a PUBLIC DEBATE.
About 15 months ago, a guy came to our little town, Benton Harbor, MI, for a meet and greet at our library. About a dozen people came to hear him and chat with him. He was insistent that he wouldn’t take any PAC or corporate money. He wanted money out of politics, more money in our pockets, and Medicare for all. After his presentation and Q&A, I walked up to him and we chatted for 5 minutes about how he was going to get this done in light of the divisions in DC. He was completely unafraid of that and was so confident that it could be done. Some may have thought him naive, but I didn’t. I saw a man who was passionate about fixing the problems in America, and I believed he could do it.
I still believe. I did a little campaigning for him before the primary, making phone calls to Michiganders. It was hard to listen to the hate, like “I ain’t voting for no A-rab” and folks who were so quick to believe the negative messages they were hearing in commercials. But it was always enlightening to hear other people ask serious, good questions about Abdul and why I supported him. I look forward to making calls or doing whatever he needs for November.
I am almost 70 years old and have never gotten involved in a campaign before. But as a previous commenter said, he is the real deal. I’m so happy to be a Michigander at this point in time, and tell everyone I see to VOTE BLUE!

Corporate media always turns a blind eye. They’re owned by oligarchs. I understand the point, but this isn’t going to change anytime soon. In addition to the machinations of the Republican Party over the last 50 years, dumbing down education and allowing Fox News into this country, the corporate media is a large part of the reason Trump was elected the first time and why he’s squatting in the White House (what’s left of it) now.
One can make the argument that silence from corporate media could be a good thing? Maybe the corner office is sitting back and re-thinking its strategy? Which begs the question what dismal decision will they embrace? Corporate anything was once notoriously labeled as psychopathic. Have we seen anything to refute that diagnosis? If it is possible what we have seen is the rapid spreading of general psychopathy across the nation. Humanity is literally losing its mind - round the globe. No doubt climate catastrophe has raised anxiety to the boiling point. And human brains do not fare well when overheated.
I am not a Muslim, but why should someone’s religious faith, or no faith, have anything to do with how they do a job for our governments? What they say about what needs to be done is of tremendous importance, yet we rarely hear views from corporate media about candidates seeking to represent us properly! Dr. Abdul has my support, even though I am not in his district and not a Muslim.

I can understand why some folks on the other side of the aisle may be frightened by these brilliant new voices. We are often frightened by what we don’t understand. But that’s not a stopping place. Our job as mature adults is to explore before we make judgments. These horrible things that are coming at Dr. Abdul from the right, and the left reflect their own small minds, fear based beliefs and extreme biases. Grow up, people. We got a country to save and it’s going to take us all to do that.
Who else in Congress is thinking of things that help, not harm. Senator Jeff Merkley who came up with the structure and principles behind Bidens most successful clean energy and climate friendly programs in the last two years of Biden's Presidency. Concieved as a way to stimulate growth and create green jobs, the bill that could have helped continue our energy transition was the brain child of Merkley, as have been may resolutions this Oregon Senator supports for conservation, against war and genocide in Gaza ( he was the first to call for stops of USA support for Israeli war and US involvement. He works for us to protect Public lands and against damage to watersheds. He can devise a program to help the cuts in healthcare. The Senate may be conservative but Senators are not stupid.
Left also criticizes Abdul for stating that he’s a capitalist, for supporting forever wars (Ukraine) and for his disingenuous characterization of how Harris handled her stance toward Palestine. That’s missing from this article.
I support Palestinians completely. I am a Democratic Socialist, not a capitalist, but I support Dr. Abdul! I support Ukraine, but demand that wars are NEVER solutions, they just make matters worse.
