It would be a shame if some of those LA wild fires, accidentally burned down their building.

Eye opening post, thank you. I have no doubt that the Russian GOP and Kash Patel are gathering evidence against Trump haters from all social media platforms to be used against them in the near future. Clearview AI already got a billion photos of everyone……

For shame LA Times. My Dad worked there in the 30s. He aspired to be a journalist and read the Times all his life. I'm so glad he's not around to see this!

The sad truth is - the mainstream media - does NOT represent the people, or the truth. What this tells us is we have to be deliberate in looking for that truth, and for finding the people who support and seek it also. Thank you for providing a space that does both.

Excellent article QR. You are correct. Bottom line, this must be stopped. If not, no one has any rights. Keep fighting!

Thank you for reading, Yamuna, and yes agreed. Absurd that they published that.

Would it be worth you putting this directly to the LA Times and reporting back on how exactly they deal with your refutations of their assertions?

I’d like to second this.

I doubt they would publish it

Thanks for responding. My point (perhaps naive) was more about putting them on the spot in terms of their reputation management. You point out their “errors” with hard evidence and then report to, in a sense, the world at large (or at least your readers) on how they deal with the truth: do they publish a correction, or do they ignore or double down? The ball would be back in their court and whatever their response, it could be instructive to a lot of people about what sort of paper they really are.

Not that this matters, but all of our yelling and screaming, it isn’t helping. I appreciate you bringing up all of the details, but it’s just not working even with the power of the judge. I’m not a pacifist and at this point the way it’s going against the lawful , the law and the lawyers, if we want to take it back, it will become an armed power struggle. I understand that most of you don’t back this up, but perhaps you didn’t come from a violent background.

I disagree. And I came from a country that justifies killing me for my faith, and have had family members lynched and tortured to death. So yeah, I understand, and I choose this path of education and advocacy and a relentless commitment to justice anyway.

This is truly horrible. I canceled my subscription to the LA Times after the election, and wish I could do so again. Is there someone we should contact to complain about this perversion of the truth? I would gladly do so!

What a thoughtful, insightful, and brilliant article. In fact it is the best breakdown of an article I have ever read. I am so proud to be a paid subscriber. We need to help with keeping critical thinking alive and active. Thank you.

Thank you for this. It is wonderful to have a resource to refer to when talking about this, and keeping the truth out there. It is appalling how far we have fallen. It affects us all if the constitution falls.

As a Jew who is not antisemitic, I strongly oppose the actions taken against Mahmoud Khalil. Most American Jews, like most Americans in general, support the rule of law concerning green card holders, or any other *person* on our soil. Those who would call me "antisemitic" because I deplore Israel's genocidal actions in Gaza, including the excruciatingly cruel barring of humanitarian aid, are, in my judgment, self-serving. There is no honor in wielding antisemitism as a cudgel to achieve evangelical goals, or to power undemocratic deportation aims.

I cancelled my LA Times subscription under 3 strikes you are out. Three times they published garbage and then also didn't bother to report on Bernie Sanders when he spoke before 13,000 people at Venice Beach plus those watching live on YouTube (which included me as I know the parking is terrible there). If they couldn't bother to cover a Presidential Candidate speaking at their back door what use are they. That's in addition to distorted reporting. Another one was a article about LAPD shootings which showed a map of LA County which contains 50 Cities besides L.A. many with their own Police Departments and other using the LA County Sheriff Department. I'm fine with criticizing LAPD but not with showing shootings for LA County. This is beyond shoddy. Sorry for ranting but the LA Times infuriates me.

Thanks for validating my decision to end my subscription to the LA Times. I knew that it had become less than accurate, less than honest, less than fair, and objectionably bigoted. But the article you cite and dissect makes me see that my disapprobation was insufficiently strong, or loud. What a disgrace.
