Thank you for this enlightening historical perspective. My spiritual path has led me from my Christian beginnings to be an atheist, but I respect anyone’s religious choice if it challenges hate, racism, fear, and misinformation, and furthers empathy, compassion, tolerance, love, scientific fact as much as we can know, and unity and solidarity. I believe this must include our acknowledgment of our role as stewards and protectors of the symbiotic nature of our interdependent world. I appreciate your interdenominational work supporting a belief that “ moments of unity and solidarity are important to a healthy society, in significant part because unfortunately, provocateurs have long tried to drive a wedge between Muslims and Jews with varying degrees of success”. This is important work in helping our species evolve before we devise our own extinction.

Great, informative essay! I have noticed that when tragedy happens to the Jewish community, it is often the Muslim community that is first to offer aid, & vice-versa. At least in the US.

Thank you! Indeed, history repeatedly attests to Muslim-Jewish unity. We must always remember that and build upon that unity for justice.
