As a First Gen American this is one issue that makes my blood boil! I definitely Screen Shot your Myth Busters for future reference! One suggestion for your audience is to get involved with local organizations that assist immigrants. I contribute financially to “Salem for Refugees”, a dedicated group of folks in Oregon successfully working to resettle the most vulnerable

I need to post this everywhere. I was aware of most of your points, but your succinct presentation should get out to voters immediately.

Qasim, thanks for this debunker. Though it's probably a bit late in the game, Kamala Harris and the Democrats would be wise to push back against the xenophobic narrative surrounding immigration. All they'd need to do is read off of this list.

Further to add, love reading the comments. I learn so much. Also want to hit the like logo, but it won’t register. So, I’m saying it now. Many wonderful informed people.

Thank you 😊

I know people who will never listen, and facts don’t matter. Even though I’m mostly indigenous, my parents were ignorant that way. I have an acquaintance that way. Boy, do they let me know where I stand. That’s who they are, and you will never, no matter how kind you are, be able to enlighten them. You are nothing but an available punching bag for their insecurities and hate. That’s my take on it .

So true! 😥😥😥😲 MAGAS forget that they are the children of immigrants!

Immigrants cannot get many of the “good jobs” we have here like, doctors, RNs, bank tellers, hairdressers, drivers, etc. because you either need a license, a thorough background check, or be fluent in English. They take a lot of the jobs most citizens don’t want, like farm hands, cleaners, etc.

You cannot just go on welfare or get SNAP benefits. You need to be a citizen to do that. An immigrant who needs help would have to go to a private charity to be helped. There is a nice big bureaucracy to make things difficult, even if you met the qualifications.

The emigrants who were bussed up here from Texas, were pretty much anxious to find jobs up here and move out of the shelters. There were a few criminals, but the vast majority were honest. We are also not letting these people vote! That is rediculous.

All of these complainers make statements without doing the research. They take what the right wingers say as gospel truth, which it wasn’t.

If seven of the 39 signers of the Declaration were themselves personally immigrants, then the forebears of all of the other 32 were immigrants. Everyone in this country, or his or her forebears, except the Native Americans, are/were immigrants.

As for your point #3, people immigrate to this country for opportunity, like opportunity to work. They're anything but lazy. And regarding your point #4, they commonly do the jobs American citizens don't want to do, and for less money than American citizens want to be paid.

Your point #5 is partially true. Native Americans contracted a number of new diseases after the Pilgrims and other New World settlers came here. There is no evidence that that's happening now.

Regarding your point #7, I have great confidence that 100% of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants themselves, their offspring, or relatives further up and down the line.

No one has any reason to resist immigration. Everyone has a reason to resist crime. But as you point out in your point #2, the two are mischievously conflated to suggest that one is equal to the other. As you make clear, they are not. Has any new immigrant ever committed a crime? Of course. Has anyone whose parents, grandparents, or more distant forebears ever committed a crime? Of course. And since, as you point out, newer immigrants are less likely to commit crimes, and some of the higher profile crimes are committed by people who are not newer immigrants, then it's sort of a meaningless preoccupation.

Regarding whose crimes should be of most concern to us, it's fair to say that the newer immigrants do not have Donnie Trump's blather, or a supermajority of the Supreme Court, or Mitch McConnell (who put them there), or Jim Jordan, or Marge Greene, or any of a number of other people to run interference for them. That doesn't make the recent immigrants more dangerous or destructive. It makes certain people in government more dangerous and destructive.

Good points. The only thing I’d change is the word”mischievously.” I think “maliciously” is a more accurate description.

You are of course very right. I suppose it wasn't the place for my sense of humor.

Thank you, Qasim, so very much for the facts you supply in abundance! I really love your style! By the way, I report every trump ad which lies as a violation!

You’re preaching to the choir! This is a fact check that needs amplifying in red state America and loudly!

And these are mostly not “myths”….they are racist propaganda.

Wouldn't the Native Americans say ALL of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were immigrants?

I love your ability to debunk so effectively (with evidence). Your beginning at the founding is nearly enough to awaken. Sometimes we forget how rich our nation is because of immigrants that most of us do not have to go too far back to find on all sides of our family trees. I am reminded of Morgan Freeman's Hazeem character in Robinhood Prince of Thieves when the little girl asks him: "Did God paint you?" He smiles and says: "For sure, Allah loves variety." Hazeem- an immigrant to England, had just saved the girl's mother in a struggle to birth a feisty baby, also saved by this feared stranger. Highest value is in relationships. We should not miss out on cool people who will contribute richly to the blending pot we are all fortunate to belong to.

Considering that this is the #1 propaganda issue of the trump campaign... the Harris campaign needs to have and use this information. Can you get this to their campaign folks, Quasim? Many thanks for all that you are doing to educate!

Thanks Gail. What frustrates me so much is they know these facts, but refuse to lean into them and cede the narrative to MAGA xenophobia. Utterly absurd.

Qasim, this is terribly frustrating. But why would Harris do this? Is it just too much in too short a time?

But what is MORE FRUSTRATING is that no one is talking about Project 2025!!! It's like, that was one news cycle and now lets move on???!!! Even today, \with Michael Schmitts article on Kelly naming trump as a fascist... pundits reacted as if this is startling news!!! It's not news, it's been in plain sight since 2017 and corroborated by the plans for 2025. And even today, the reluctance to call him a fascist. Please tell me that people somewhere are smarter, tougher than this??? Somewhere in Europe?
