Trump chose to make protest all about ICE and immigration to keep just on immigration. That is the ground he has chosen to fight on.

That was not the Ground. We chose to fight and we’re absolutely winning on. “No Kings”, meaning protection of democracy and all of our rights and an into the corruption. And “Hands Off”, meaning the protection of all of our laws and all of our components of government from Medicare to Medicaid to Social Security to NIH to all of our research to niosh to NOAA, to all our infrastructure legislation and DEI, and Universities and law abiding undocumented families and much more.

We need to get back to this ASAP and to move off from the place. Trump wants us to be. June 14 is already scheduled as the King’s day and this can reset itself on that day.

ABC, like CBS, has been capitulating to the Trump regime, needlessly giving in to Trump's baseless defamation suit against Stephanopoulos for $15 million, & more recently suspending a reporter for telling the truth about Stephen Miller after threats.

Truly shameful behavior from these multi-billion dollar media corporations. Cowardly.

Noticed this several years ago. The legacy media never was objective, that’s why they got rid of Mehdi Hassan and another one I really liked who now has his own program. Jim Acosta, I just recalled his name. Of course on YouTube is Mike Flannery but they keep censoring my posts so even though it’s a private platform, still a way to stifle opposing views.

We must look at the media as you have pointed out and also remember what former CBS executive chairman Les Moonves told us what media was really about when he slipped about the Donald Trump candidacy in 2016: "It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS."

Entertainment is their OS (operating system). Journalism be damned.

People can’t be properly informed easily if they want to. The billionaires took over trusted media. Independent media is our lifeline. Thank you for being part of it.

As always, Qasim, thank you for your spot-on reporting - calling out ALL FAUX NEWS! It is a shame that the media does not hound trump the way they hounded - and continue to hound - Biden!

It is getting scarier every day & I know that "is by design" but it is nerve-wracking nonetheless! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻☮️☮️☮️💙

As to The Fapweasel (Trump) suing 60 Minutes, he is so uninformed. That show has a reputation for hard hitting informed journalism and doing exposés. He never should have accepted their offer to interview him. They were going to ask questions he would rather not answer, and press him until he cries, “uncle.” He got what he deserved! CBS should not back down. All of these media corporations should stand together and stand firm.

They spend hours in the makeup room, come on the air and pretend to report the news, while they know what’s actually going on around them, and then go back to their luxury life.

They should all be harassed as bad as the black mother and daughter election workers (2020) that had their life turned upside down.

You started your article about how far the free press has fallen.

Free Falling Press is a perfect term for them.

The corporate media isn't "afraid". This is their agenda. Billionaires bought the media so they could set our conversations on a national, and even global, level. This isn't capitulation. It's a performance. They are pretending they want to resist when the Trump agenda is THEIR agenda too. They have been lying to us this whole time about Palestine, about COVID, about climate collapse, about mass extinction, about the inevitability and goodness of capitalism, just like they're lying now about communities in LA resisting ICE's campaign of terror and pretending it's just "illegal immigrants" rioting. If we don't stop falling for their performance, it will be that much more difficult to stop all the horrifying things happening right now.

Qasim, I've always had a bad feeling about the corporate media industrial complex. with that being said, I honestly trust Substack now more than I trust the mainstream media. These are terrible times that we're living in.

These ARE terrible times. I have to say, though, that corp media always has been this way, imho. As lofty are our ideals about journalism, Fox News (for one) has been around for decades, and it seems their fans can’t tell it isn’t real. Every story as long as I’ve been watching news (I’m 64) sanewashes shit and misrepresents the facts. This is why I love Substack. I still get the dopamine hits because, hey! It’s news! But gosh, what great writing and such extraordinary, accomplished and brilliant humans writing it. Great to engage in discussion with like-minded people, too. I saw someone say, “It’s like an AP Lit Club.” 🤓
