Every religion has a way to join it, but nobody should be recruited. Missionaries should confine their efforts to helping others, but not recruiting them. It is important than people understand what people believe, but in an objective way. You can’t study history without mentioning religion. The Roman Empire, The Crusades, The Spanish Inquisition, and World War II, in Europe all involve religion. Some of it is overt, and some is more subtitle.

Probably because they don’t have all the facts. The Romans, who eventually became the Italians, were responsible for most of the Popes, but before they adopted Christianity, were very much against it. They attempted to wipe it out.
The Crusades were pretty much a disaster. The crusaders never retook The Holy Land. About the only people who benefited from it were The Knights of Malta, I think, but they were taken down by the king of France. However, The Crusades eventually brought about the end of the Middle Ages, and eventually the age of exploration.
Most of these right wing Christians are very selective in their beliefs.
First, this so called Christian nationalism is not Christianity as Jesus taught it. Period. Its not. No love your neighbor as yourself is going on with people who scream advocations of death to those who believe differently. Insane. Second, anyone who even brushes up against inequality, who doesn’t find it offensive, is not Christian. No one who thinks it is ok to own others- a real metaphor there in our new robber baron atmosphere- could ever be a real Christian.

I rarely find anything to disagree with you about and I don’t “ mansplain” anything but I have not heard credible evidence to blanketly claim Jefferson raped a woman he was clearly in love with. She had her own chambers with lovely things including more children. We were not there and while it is unbelievable these guys could hear god to form our nation while not seeing the equality of women and people of color, god would not condone slavery, rape, or taking any unfair advantage. Love is the universal solvent in our bodies as water is on earth.

Jefferson collected the words of Jesus yet it is his works that prove his status as the highest christ office we know of.
