Today is the 1 year anniversary that we launched Let’s Address This with Qasim Rashid. I wrote on April 23, 2024:

Global human rights are at historic lows, and the United States is among the worst offenders. By subscribing to Let's Address This with Qasim Rashid, you're helping turn the tide to protect human rights for all.

In the last 1 year, you have made Let’s Address This that platform that more than 130,000 people rely on for daily, critical, and accurate information on human rights. I am grateful to this community. I will always cherish the tens of thousands of notes I received from each of you offering condolences for the passing of my father, Maulana Abdur Rashid Yahya. I am grateful for the solidarity as we collectively navigate the incessant attacks on our human rights and dignity. And I will always smile that the most commented on feature of my weekly recaps are the Dad Jokes :)

In short, I am truly honored for your support. Your support has elevated Let’s Address This to accomplish the following:

So Where Do We Go Next?

With you leading the way, we continue to build for justice. To do that, we’re expanding how to access and organize our content. Therefore, I have partnered with an amazing org called Oak to streamline my work into one spot. A Final Word

As we build into year two and beyond, I’d like to reaffirm these three promises:

1. My writing and content will never sit behind a paywall. It is, and will remain, accessible to all people regardless of whether they are a paid subscriber or free subscriber.

2. My content will always be accurate, and if I get something wrong, I will absolutely follow up with a correction. I do not profess perfection, but you can count on my commitment to hold truth and justice as my North Star.

3. My standard will remain to uphold justice above all else, while elevating calls to action to combat injustice. My writing will not only shed light on the struggles harming our nation, but also on the practical steps we can take to rectify injustice.

As corporate media continues to capitulate to fascism, as billionaires line up behind a fascist for personal benefit at our expense, and as too many politicians remain cowardly silent—my mission remains clear: Uphold absolute justice and human rights in all I do. I will continue to so without billionaire support. Instead, I will do so with the people, by the people, and for the people. This is why I seek your support.
